For example, I honestly believe the Oculus founder believed the promises that you wouldn't ever need to use a FB account to use an Oculus, just given his public comments.

What is it about being the CEO of a startup that causes people to believe these promises?

Hmm, the text of the Creative Commons license is such that I would think such suits would be unsuccessful in court. Specifically, it has a section about reinstating your rights if you fix a violation of the license after you are notified. H

Collabora is roughly to LibreOffice what RedHat is to GNU/Linux.

I doubt they want to tie their fortunes to Google, especially given that Google is one of their competitors. Furthermore, Collabora produces mostly (maybe all?) libre software, so integrating with Google doesn't mesh with that. Collabo

They explicitly defended and espoused free speech/open discourse in the early days. It was very much part of the ethos. One of their founders (Aaron Schwartz) was a famous activist in areas intersecting with free speech. They were know

I remember when Reddit was considered a bastion of free speech. It's amazing how the culture's changed so quickly. But it does appear like this particular incident is a mistake made by automated moderation. https://www.

Not the OP, but GNU/FSF has stagnated in the past 20 years. There's no cohesive vision; GNU is more of a ecletic collection of software packages than a complete OS. The FSF has no huge influence; most of its impact is based on its

Every discussion of Sowell online seems to attract fans of his declaring how brilliant he is. It's a bit strange the sort of hero worship he attracts. Personally, I've never seen it; while he seems like a reasonably smart person,

Based on the comment in the source, the hash table doesn't handle hash collisions. And furthermore, I don't see the code which benchmarks this versus other hash tables, just the claim that it is 2-3x faster. Specifically, comparis

That's a very one-sided explanation. I'm not saying that Israel are the "good guys" but there's more to their conflicts with their neighbors than just Israeli aggression.
