It doesn’t signal anything. Companies do this in order to prevent impostors from hosting on these sites posing as them. Business as usual, Pages is comparable to Word, Numbers is weak against Excel, and Keynote is superior to PowerPoint.

There’s a certain Apple feature people like to hate on that works very well too…

Apple provides thousands of APIs to make developing on the platform easier, has created their own programming language that integrates nicely with the platform and has a fully integrated IDE that works with both above. Sure, buddy… They don

musl is significantly smaller and "less bloat" than glibc, so even with a statically linked program, it still remains small in both system memory and storage.

Please, they could do it even with the WebKit wrapper. Edge managed to get AdBlock Pro and Brave has a content blocker built in.

Curious, do you use anything iCloud or Apple services like iMessage then? I imagine this breaks stuff…

While most distros can basically do the same thing, this does a good job pointing out the differences (such as release cycle, philosophy, etc).

Apple has released os updates that have specifically targeted Safari issues. Usually point z releases as needed like big bugs and security fixes. Still not as ideal but it’s better than before. Mind you the version string in Safari might no

Because, while you or I might be able to do it, a lot of people don't want to do this. They'd rather have it work and not need to think about it. There's a lot to be said (and pay for) convenience.

An old read, but I'd argue to give it another try with something like OrbStack. You lose a lot of the overhead of running a desktop OS. But still impressive none the less.

Kinda naive to think that Rust could offer superior performance on a first-party platform when it can't even figure out GUIs correctly. Granted you could probably introduce a Rust/Swift FFI for logic/graphics, but that's
