I agree with your sentiment, but frankly human nature just doesn’t work that way. We don’t have self control. We weren’t evolved for a world of abundance. This is no one’s fault, and it’s everywhere, china is getting fatter than most countr

I don’t know why you are getting downvoted. This is just as valid as saying education has gotten worse. It’s likely both are causes, and some other things too.

How is reducing the government “bad policy”? Clearly there are bad ways to do it, and it’s risky, and hard, but calling it outright bad policy is wrong. It could be great policy if done well.

You know you can actually like people with different political views to yourself. I think Zizek is a super nice guy, despite disagreeing with 90% of what he says. I still think he's a great person with a nice soul.

Yes, but the author of the article doesn't do that either. Everything is dismissed as ridiculous and old fashioned. Which is also just silly. Not rebelling or rebelling against everything are both bad paths. You need to realise some th

So building an amazing product (as the author says), and then charging however much you can for it is “price gouging” (Thanks Kamala. The only reason I imagine this article popping up now is the price gouging wording) As far as I knew from

He didn't "escape to Russia", this is a very disingenuous, and plain wrong to say. It's ridiculous having to explain this after 11 years on HN, which is supposed to be a techie place for intelligent people. Either you&#x

We have Ariane space, rocket lab, blue origin. We need more than one musk. Unfortunately that’s like one in a century.

I don’t think this has anything to do with apple. It’s about getting out before a likely market crash, that will inevitably lower the value of almost all companies. The only risk here for buffet is the fed coming in with a huge rate cut or

I genuinely hope this isn't a massive political issue where the people in charge are risking these two astronauts lives because they simply cannot stand asking Musk for help, and again making it look like the establishment simply canno

He gets laid off to if he fails. And both he and employees get to keep what they've earned up to that point. I don't see the difference except in the size of the paypacket. Both are employees, and are owed AT MOST 30 days of work.

Why is Microsoft winning the ai race, not google who everyone said is best placed? Was this a collective decision by thousands of Microsoft employees, to go in this direction? Is it thousands of google employees fault they missed it? By you

No, a lot of that value (and revenue, something you are missing!) was created before AI. Azure, office 365, cloud, these were all massive to Microsoft and had created loads of value and revenue. That isn’t a bubble. Also AI might be hype, b

Why didn’t IBM, oracle, or google or apple do it then? Or you? You do realise you are saying, if you haven’t done it, you are less than an untrained chimp yourself, just by the logic of your statement?

Sigh. First of all, Nadella has created a trillion dollars of value over his leadership. His pay packet of $40m is nothing. Second, the E was never about equality of pay, or fairness. It’s equity. It was about quotas in hiring and equality

Many websites that you rely on would not be around if it wasn’t for Google ads. You think it’s some sort of choice you have between being tracked or not, but it’s not, it’s between having a fairly decentralised internet or not. And unfortun
