I thought about this quite a bit when my phone and table started supporting Samsung Dex. It's a great system and I could literally do every single thing I need to on my phone. In the end I couldn't justify it though. It's rea

Interesting. But I'd say it still fits with the narrative. 5% is a good "we practice fiscal constraint" message. To get back to a reasonable cost basis, they need to lay off 50%, which would send a totally different message.

I think a different approach would work better at this point. They need to stay up but use their subreddits to publicly plan Reddit "exits" for each community. Subreddits should start polls on where migrate to (discord, lemmy, mas

yeah it's sad I guess but half the reason I am recommending this is that it "just works" so much more easily than installing half the Python ecosystem into a conda environment (ironically, just so that Python can then behave

I really like the idea of a micro-subscription. I want to contribute to online content but nearly always people are asking north of $5/month, and I have massive subscription fatigue at that level. I wish the UI was more basic. All the

If Apple allows it then I fully expect 3rd parties to make controllers. Now that Meta has demonstrated fully self tracked controllers, you don't need much OS integration to make that work. Of course, it depends if Apple allows it.

Shared space interaction was notably missing from the keynote. I'm very curious what the vision for the platform for it will be. Meta has put a lot of focus on it so there are a bunch of Quest apps and games where people inhabit the sa

I think it's one of the things they got right with the Quest Pro. It doesn't touch your face and is carefully designed so that all the support is via the forehead. It causes discomfort for some people but the upside is you put it

An interesting corollary to this is how toxic latency is to productivity. If in attempting to do "one thing" I get blocked for say, 2 minutes - what then? The answer is, I switch to something else. But now, I'm not doing &quo

That's sort of the flip side of the coin. Google firmly believes that technology can solve everything and humans shouldn't need to be involved out of principle. So they build a great UI, great tools for devs and engineers to use,

The difference here is Zuckerberg gets to be the equivalent of both Samsung and Google in the Android analogy. That's going to unlock far more opportunities for ecosystem profit than Android did when split b/w OEMs and Google.
