Dude, you are completely missing the point. All I am saying is that replacing a simple and well tested system with a complex and barely evaluated system is bad for security. And for the record, ALMOST ALL recent high profile hacks were rela

Zero security in what sense? Is confidentiality of your messages the only thing you care about? Even that you won't get to keep once hit by a WhatsApp vulnerability.

Well, with this move they simply will have to. Thankfully, it's not driven by Google, just "approved" by them. You don't want to use a Google technology for thinga you want to continue to exist 4 years from now.

Yeah, no end-to-end encryption and all that. But how many 0-days have been discovered in MMS? WhatsApp is starting to look like a TLA backdoor in comparison.

For me it was FreeCAD->OpenSCAD->Fusion->back to OpenSCAD. Some tasks are extremely easy in OpenSCAD. Fusion is not that hard either, but it is a commercial tool with a free-ish version where they keep your designs hostage. It does

Why are you still there, with the job market being what it is now? I mean, you fairly quickly see where this is going to lead. Why stay in a sinking ship?

You realize that many breakthrough technologies have been created at war time, or during a military (or space) race? Besides, it makes sense to not depend on resources controlled by your enemy.

I don't understand why everyone - including the normally thick-skinned and business-minded HN crowd - is buying into this fake protest. Facebook is simply trying to score some small victory out of a bad situation, probably a time exten

What kind of backward logic is this? If you hate GDPR, just say so. Consider this: if EU did the opposite of what did they here, would G/O Media still find an angle to call it failure? You bet they would

Thank you for your answers. Reading between the lines, is it correct that at this point you are mainly interested in corporate participants rather than individuals who want to work on this a few hours per week?

While I like this project, freecad is badly in need of a UX overhaul. For example things being split into X workspace that you have to constantly switch between (each with their own toolbar layout) is not a good workflow.
