Nobody is talking about the ‘middle’, or even lies. Most people are at least partly wrong or mistaken about most things, but there are usually some things they are right about. There is value to be gained in finding out what another person

Yeah - I’m just not sure what useful work the term ‘harder’ is doing. It just compares two things in a way that seems irrelevant, and mostly harmful. It does take ‘effort’ to clean your room if you are depressed. But that has very little

Frustration with something is not the same as being ‘against’ that thing. If you are against it and you don’t have a solution then you are simply destructive.

Presumably you know that significant parts of the historical “well earned distrust” that black people have of the medical community involve the government. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study So does

The “root” is likely to be trauma or bad experiences in your past. E.g. bullying, poor parenting, divorce, poverty, neglect, etc. there are many many possibilities. It’s pretty easy to have these kinds of experience and not be sure how the

It seems like you are simply agreeing that only some autistic people are disabled, and so autism isn’t a disability or disease. You say people at the “extremes” are disabled, but that’s not true, because there are “extreme” savants who are

I don’t see how they are unrelated at all. It sounds like you are saying they just don’t ‘feel’ like the same thing, but I see no reason for that other than racism.

The commenter uses cancer as an analog for autism. That implies disease. It’s not a neutral comparison, and it’s not my bias that introduced the concept of disease. If you think it’s possible to make the same point without reference to a

Yes. The fact that you have to qualify that the ‘neutral’ trait isn’t ‘necessarily’ bad implies that you think people might think it was bad. You wouldn’t need to qualify it otherwise.

The point here is that autistic people who prefer this term don’t think it has anything to do with mental health or disease, and do think it’s a fundamental aspect of who they are, which can’t be separated.

Sure, but the point is that the thing that is ‘severe’ isn’t ‘autism’. An autistic person can be severely disabled, but the disability is itself a trait they only some autistic people have, so it doesn’t make sense to call the disability ‘
