Apple loudly advertises this fact. Users don’t get to plead victimhood when the product works as advertised. It’s not a cage. It’s a hotel that people willingly stay in because the operators keep it clean.

You can keep saying it’s a false dilemma, but that doesn’t make it so. We are considering nuclear vs not doing nuclear. That isn’t a false dilemma. > discarded entailing both high costs (direct and externalities) and high risk. If you

That page simply describes how the environmental case against nuclear power was made before climate change began to be taken seriously. If we didn’t have to worry about the impacts of climate change, I’d agree with phasing out nuclear. Bu

Why would they need to shut down the internet to prevent business from accepting bitcoin? That makes no sense. A simple regulation or tax would do it.

Nobody is trying to absolve anything. The point is that Bitcoin won’t either.

It’s pretty easy to stop businesses from accepting Bitcoin if you are the military industrial complex. Black markets are hard to eliminate altogether but no real threat.

What new platform? Why won’t the new platform be just as bad? Switching brand of cigarettes doesn’t protect your lungs.

If it wouldn’t disappear then it’s not a cost that can be attributed to the current financial system. You may as well say that since the current financial system enabled the development of computers and the internet which were pre-requisite

You haven’t offered any kind of explanation at all here. If there is a ‘fight’ involved, how will bitcoin owners fight against the military industrial complex?

Assuming that the military/industrial complex would disappear if bitcoin prevailed over the dollar seems very questionable.

Still unclear where your information is coming from. Neither FoundationDB nor Obj-C were started by Apple.

Where are you getting your information from? None of the projects listed there were started by Apple, all of them are used in successful Apple products, and all of them have been used by both competitors, and the community.

Sure - just like anyone else who contributes to LGPL projects, Apple willingly chose to do so.

Sure, but that’s deeply misleading since Apple contributes most of their code to trunk. The fact they ship private builds for their own machines is a complete red herring.

Ok so there are a narrow range of students who require a high end machine, and for them a framework laptop might be a good choice, assuming they can’t get a similar benefit by simply selling their existing laptop and buying a new one.

I’m using a 7 year old Mac for software development and it’s not ‘too slow’. Cheap computers are readily available on the used market.

How many App Store purchases matter? I’ve bought hundreds of apps over the years, but really don’t care about them. Nobody uses a lot of paid apps, and a lot of them have moved to subscriptions anyway.
