Malcolm Harris doesn’t say what commitments DeBoer is breaking. He would be more credible if he did.

What DeBoer describes is unambiguously a lie. Whether some individual is actually doing what he describes has a lot more room for ambiguity.

Is DeBoer ‘making himself the victim’? It looks to me as though he is a victim of a bunch of social vigilantes who have nothing to do with the original situation. The ‘original victim’ would be better off if these vigilantes weren’t invol

This has been true of all governments of all kinds thoughout all of time. Once again, it’s something America can only be criticized for because the goal is for it to be something different . It’s fair to criticize America for not living up

It’s not really ‘the American model’ - it’s the model America was founded to try to avoid. The trend you identify seems to be in all political systems. The fact that america as a political ideal is not immune to the trend does seem to be

> Expensive places have been made less exorbitantly expensive before. Places like SF? What examples are you thinking of? Manhattan is a lot like SF, but is 4x the density. It has done very little to prevent prices rising.

Nowhere have I suggested that anyone wants SF to turn into Manhattan. That seems to be something you are reading into it. The point is that when you compare the two, it be some clear that that even if you did turn SF info Manhattan , yo

That Bay Area skyline picture is bullshit. A photo covering a small part of SF, that you can only take from one angle. Here is another one: https://www.lavocedinewyork.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/s...

The same logic applies. Manhattan is only 10% cheaper and yet is 4x denser. Clearly density doesn’t solve the cost problem.

The argument that that the only reason shenzen housing is cheaper than SF is density is absurd on its face. If your argument is that we can increase SFs population by 10% to maybe get a 30% reduction in average home price, then I agree. Bu

By all means compare SF against Manhattan. The argument doesn’t change. The East bay is cheaper that SF too, but so what? Your argument is that increasing the density of SF will make it substantially cheaper. The example of Manhattan cont

“In the world” New York is 3 times as dense and more than 20 times the population of SF and yet is only 10% cheaper. Explain again how more supply will magically make SF affordable?

Interesting - I don’t have that experience. Yes, people use generic intensifiers, yes, ‘incredibly’ is one of them, but I haven’t noticed it be used any more judiciously than any other such word.

Sure, but that increases value, and hence demand. There are good things about building housing, but reducing prices in desirable areas is not one.
