Accusing people of being emotional seems more like doubling down on psychological warfare than an antidote. Once you have declared someone’s position invalid because of their emotional state rather than their logic, that person can no longe

Very weird. Whether this is a misguided project or not, the issue of censorship is extremely relevant to HN, and is often discussed at length. How did this end up getting flagged?

I don’t know anything about the other person’s emotions. I know that you are reading emotion into their comments. It’s my observation that people make comments that ‘don’t make sense in the way that I understand the space’ very frequently,

> A world where we can buy only Apple is a nightmare hellscape How is this in any way related to the discussion on repairability?

Sure - but of course ifixit profits from devices that break easily, whereas Apple benefits from making devices more and more indestructible, which is why they keep working on that.

Right, because people overestimate the need for repairs, and underestimate the value of security. You can’t seriously think that most people do a good job of assessing cybersecurity risks accurately.

A lot of people who have iPhones indeed have lower budgets. They got their phones as hand-me-downs or secondhand. This is only possible because of the durability of iPhones. It is in apple’s interests to extend the life of iPhones and not

Much as I am suspicious of Epic, this kind of move is way better than their silly stunt with the App Store. The way to beat Apple is to develop better technology than them. It will take billions of dollars to do this, but Epic has the mo
