Hmmm... I could. Substreamer let's me mark albums and playlists as "offline access" so I have something local. That works well enough. Syncthing for photos is awesome. When I cut-paste on my desktop they are removed from my p

I set up JF for music first, then added Navidrome. I then added Moode for my separate stereo speakers and Home Assistant too. Never had an issue with everything having access at the same time.

Yes, I'm also interested in this project but Navidrome does a great job alongside Jellyfin and Audiobookshelf. A great trio.

Navidrome has worked well for me for the last couple years. My collection (~80 GB) is pre-organized FLAC but Navidrome will transcode to MP3 if needed. I use Substreamer on Android to connect to it (Airsonic API/protocol) or the WebUI

I think you're both still talking past one another. > Social sciences give us the general capability to ask those questions and understand the answers. This is almost tautological depending on where those fields lie between physics

> "tutorials are just a different form of walkthrough" Yes, one is focused on understanding (mechanics, lore, UI) and the other is focused on a specific task (do these steps to progress). Diataxis is not inventing these words -

Are they really so close? The lecture is the explanation. The tutorial/lab is a guided experience (Microsoft's fake Contoso company comes to mind). A how-to guide is what you need when you want to search/chatgpt a solution. R

My experience trying to implement this for internal use in a tech-adjacent industry is that "how-to" guides dominate because of a company culture of expediency over quality. With time and care, those can be turned into tutorials a

I agree. Architecture != Engineering It's easy for the common person to see and appreciate a beautiful city/building/room so a market for "beauty" is possible. I don't think computer software will be ubiquitous

I take it one step further: I'm not only invisible but am being actively targeted with prejudice by those who can see me. You very quickly develop a knack for predicting what "cages" will do at any given moment. As a pilot,

I'm new as well - it's good to remember that NixOS, nix-shell, and the programming language of Nix are all separate. You can start with your current distro to learn nix-shell first. I still have no idea how it all works but it see

No, it's not possible to do in a legal fashion I don't think. The existing methods require a browser-based portal that requires you to be logged in with your university proxy. As an alumnus I could do this by showing up in person

I recently began testing my own public `dictd` server. The main goal was to make the OED (the full and proper one) available outside of a university proxy. I figured I would add the Webster's 1913 one too. Unfortunately the vast majori

If I recall correctly Cities Skylines needs a UTM-like projection but I think I made an error with the input data and got the X/Y scaling wrong. It was a fairly amateurish attempt and my knowledge of coordinate reference systems has im

Hard pass. The file naming is predicated on having the database. For ephemeral storage this is understandable but any software that describes itself as "archival" should assume that it will not outlive the data it is preserving. I
