I gave you two specific, recent examples of Canadians who were in China and arrested in response to Meng Whanzhou being held for extradition to the US. While she was living in a mansion they were in jail with 24 hour lighting, daily questio

7. I have no desire to be a political prisoner abducted to leverage a concession from the west. Same reason I would avoid Russia, North Korea, or probably areas of Mexico with cartels. See Michael Spavor, Michael Kovrig, and Brit Gringer.

Any advice that has worked for you on learning to sketch? I have a journal while travelling, and I don't have a lot of artistic talent but have always wanted sketch landscapes, objects, or people in.

I am not the OP, but I just don't have the mental bandwidth or care to invest in these random swings and title changes at the whim of billionaires. I don't use either site, am not in tech, and my social circle will still refer to

It's hard to think of many services that haven't disappeared or gone to shit over the last twenty years. Even if you have a friend in a company that manages this for you and could help you out they might not be around or at that c

I would also vote for FolderSync. I run seafile and nextcloud for other purposes, but have settled using FolderSync for phone --> NAS nightly backups and it is slick. I've been using Photoview to view backed up photos locally.

I've worked at a few different hospitals that still use addressograph imprinters with plastic cards to label reqs, stickers, and chart sheets. I imagine it's a niche skill to maintain these machines.

I run Kodi on a 2019 Nvidia shield "tube" model. My media and previously jellyfin is on a NAS that serves the content over nfs to the shield. Shield--Receiver--TV. Look into the maven Kodi build if you have something similar. My s

I'm not sure what to say. Unless this is a recent change in my experience it does not work as intended. I spent a lot of time playing with the various transcoding settings and per user settings and direct path access or the regular way

Cool software. I used it within/in parallel to Kodi to sync a couple devices but ended up removing this layer. I didn't like that you can't outright disable transcoding for content served via their app or in the browser. I s

Good grief. Seems like a reasonable proposal for a 17th century slave ship but thats about it. The Ars comment about just horizontally stacking passengers is pretty apt.

For those hosting their own Reddit/libreddit instance doesn't that reduce anonymity to Reddit by having only a single user? I have been using public ones to mix my traffic in with others.

I acknowledge your point but disagree with the logic behind it. Perhaps someone has died from a dog allergy but not any significant amount to affect society and the medical systems capability to deal with everything else. This was a one in

I think your argument is disingenuously reductive but I'll bite: yeah. Life over limb is not a hard argument. Thankfully nobody is going around chopping off fingers. Would you donate blood to save lives? Or reduce a company's prof
