Tic-tac-toe is proven to be unlosable. (You can win if you go first & you are playing an imperfect opponent) Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tic-tac-toe#Strategy for the description of the algorithm.

Forcing a background for all logged-in users is kind of a small mishap. Adding a huge new search feature that pretty much renovates the workflow of the UI is a much larger, and harder decision.

I, on the contrary, trust Google here. They're known for their extensive testing. I highly highly doubt that they would make such a major change to their main page without knowing for sure that it would be for the better.

Kind of funny, but it gets to the point where everyone tries to throw in their own punchline. (I'm sure the same would happen here...)

And then the important part: employees will be forced to use IE12 (or whatever) because Chrome 25 & Firefox 6 don't support silverlight, which will slow adoption of html6.

It's the very nature of the beast (social news, that is) You can't have a site to aggregate the "best" news without restricting your user base. With fewer users, you can't make as much money.

Is this really important? Sure, the source may be slightly polluted, but it's not going to slow down the application once it's compiled. Really, these sort of things are probably good in code: they make it explicit that you are dealing wi

Interestingly enough, they did it with "pure" HTML/CSS, plus 2 images for the nodes & connections. I was a bit surprised that they didn't use canvas, which seems to be all the rage these days. I'm assuming this implementation, however,

Great. Yet another instance of anti-Net Neutrality. Thoughtful question for the day: would an ISP that prioritized P2P traffic be considered amazing, or evil?

Great point. That million-dollar homepage experiment where the guy sold pixels for $1 each took almost no effort on his part. "Easy" The likelihood it would ever work again? Very very very slim. Not easy.

Did these studies ever show a decline in grades? If grades stayed (relatively) the same, or even increased , then the lack of studying shouldn't be a problem. Either kids are smarter, or the courses aren't forcing them to study as much.
