As eloquent as this manifesto is, it fails to actually address some of the arguments against tau. In 2.1, it points out that d/dx sin(x) = cos(x) only holds if x is in radians. This is key Once you switch to expressing x in diameterians o

I think that TL;DR is a great practice for writers , and it doesn't matter how you label it. TL;DR apparently originated on MetaFilter, which I can totally see happening. The sort of esoteric abbreviation coupled with a semicolon would def

I've done something with javascript that I'm pretty happy with: http://olopede.com/contact/ Basically, if you have JS turned off, you get "team (.AT.) olopede.com" But, with JS (which most people have), you get the correct form of the ema

Chain rule: Let x be angle in radians, y be angle in diameter-ians (2pi) x = 2y d/dx sin(x) = cos(x) d/dy sin(y) = d/dx sin(2 x) d/dx (2x) = 2 cos(2x) = 2 cos(y) It's the same reason why you use radians for angles in calculus: degrees mes

"Oh, my mistake. You're right. Thanks for pointing that out!" That is, if you're humble enough to put your ego aside.

You might want to use mueval ( http://hackage.haskell.org/package/mueval ) in order to prevent evil people from being evil (at least to your server.) It works pretty well at keeping crazy stuff out. Hopefully you added some sort of limite

Seems like this guy just needs his problem solved. Prize: getting a job offer for a very unspecific web company based in India. Yay? But, in the spirit of being constructive, he should probably forgo solving this in SQL, have PHP generate t

I think it'd be really cool if you posted the site's code in various snippets on the site. The whole meta-/self-ref thing might be too awesome for your site to handle. Other than that, looks pretty decent. It would be nice if you could link

It's kind of funny. Everyone mocks the complexity of monads, yet this guy basically implements his own version of Haskell's Maybe in order to make his code easier. It's really hard not to gloat.

Well... http://www.google.com/trends?q=delete+facebook+account,+face... This seems to suggest that fewer people are searching to delete their account, proportional to the number of people using facebook.

Was I the only one surprised by the Haskell praise? Sure, I love Haskell, but I didn't realize it catered so well to game developer. He _does_ point out a few of the downfalls of Haskell, but there seems to be some positive element there.

I know it's not OSS, but scribd.com is a really useful service. They have a decently powerful API that lets you upload the doc and let them handle hosting, rendering, metadata, etc. I'm not sure if this will work for you, but sites like dro
