You'll be surprised.. I've seen 3 people per room, 9 people per apartment, many times. NYC is a strange place.

Hmm, I guess that would work, but it seems like an incredible amount of overhead to me. So you'd need to code that "switch" for every bugfix/feature? And even if there are libraries to do that, you'd still need to add custom code for every

What about the user acceptance testing stage? The way the process was described in the article, looks like the process is code -> run unit tests -> run automated tests -> code review -> deploy. I may be missing something, bu

Nope. I agree with the article... I would've not argued either. Actually, I don't even try to persuade my closest friends that I've known for 15 years. Up until a couple of years ago, I loved preaching and talking about life goals, etc.. bu

I don't speak Chinese or Japanese, but people that do told me that there are more than five ways to pronounce "yi", they all mean different things, but they're all transliterated to English in the same way. However, that's not what I meant.

I don't necessarily think it's bad. It's evolution. It's much more efficient to have each character represent a sound (western way) than a word (Chinese/Japanese/etc way), anyway. The cultural loss is sad, sure, but in the end, it's surviva

Recruiters who come from technical backgrounds are the best ones. One of my good friends has a CS degree and been working as recruiter here in NYC, he's making over 300K/year. Despite having a CS degree, he's not a typical geek though - ver

Being good at C can be very profitable in a money sense of the word too. Bloomberg is one example that hires a lot of C hackers and pays them obscure amounts of money (very very long hours though)

Here is what worked for me. At some point (a long long time ago), I came pretty close, and one day I wrote a long, very thorough explanation of what exactly was wrong and why I was going to do it. After finishing it, I read it with a critic

In a way, this exemplifies what's wrong with the approach Linux desktop/application developers have been taking for years: create something amazing, but forget one small detail, rendering the whole thing completely useless, and causing 99%

This is my perfect schedule that I do when everything goes right. Sometimes I deviate from it. Also, I'm a single man living in NYC, so YMMV. 9 AM: Wake up, go to the gym 10 AM: Shower/shave/etc, get dressed 11 AM: Arrive at the office - As

This is a very difficult issue to try to remain impartial on, since I'm a man and an entrepreneur myself, and Elon Musk has been an inspiration for many years. I'm really trying though... but the fact that his ex-wife is trying to get a sha

I actually completely disagree with this main idea. Everybody eventually gives up, no one has 100% steel willpower, we're all human. I would be very interested to see and update in a year or so, to see if the author has managed to keep the
