If you’re calling that article “utter nonsense” than I would completely agree! That’s exactly the BS that was peddled back in the day that people like the NYT happily took home Pulitzers for, but where it turned out they spun it nearly out

The employees in this case aren’t going looking where they weren’t supposed to. This isn’t an auditing problem, like the Google/Facebook/Amazon employee snooping where they aren’t supposed to. In this case employees are tasked wit

I’m saying the car owner opted-in to send the footage to Tesla. It’s not a matter of fault, they chose to share their video clips. The fact that the humans doing the labeling are “entertained” by certain clips… how could they not be? Imagin

I personally see a big difference between the reliability of the software enforcing the opt-in/opt-out, and the reliability of young humans hired cheaply to label video clips that were opted-in for sharing, who then see something salac

What would satisfy you that this was the case? Third parties have analyzed the firmware and sniffed the traffic logs on their network to confirm it. You could go as far as to snip the LTE antenna.

You’re familiar with the Anker/Eufy cameras storing all video unencrypted and unprotected in the cloud? Or Amazon sharing all their Ring footage and Alexa recordings with the police? Almost all these devices share their recordings to t

The car doesn’t have an “on” and “off”. There is no switch. The car specifically has Sentry mode for recording continuously while parked. There’s a very detailed Data Sharing settings right in the UI where you turn on or off sharing any cli

Have you heard of Ring? Alexa? There are countless stories of the data from these devices being harvested by Amazon, and even sent to law enforcement to use against their owners.

Seems like a lot of commenters came away from this article thinking that Tesla employees are seeing and sharing images from inside the car? Because that’s not what was reported, and it’s not what happened. But they certainly didn’t go out

You know you can just touch a toggle on the UI to turn on/off data sharing? You can opt-out entirely too, but you won’t get software updates.

I can’t speak to “truth”, only trust. If the reporting is ideological, the likelihood that the narrative is slanted is high. Is Neuralink doing something wrong, or are they being targeting by ideologues? We don’t know. I don’t think animal
