We've actually done that for a few years on the Terminal repo. It's great for things like megathreads / scenarios / epics. For example, I can tell you off the top of my head that microsoft/terminal#8888 is for "

Already working on it :) You can follow https://github.com/microsoft/sudo/issues/2 for updates. Honestly, the hardest part will be porting the Settings app changes to the Windows 10 styles. `sudo.exe` itself

Yep, it's really happening. Sudo is coming to Windows. It's obviously not just a fork of the linux sudo - there's enough that's different about the permissions structure between OS's that just a straight port wouldn

You haven't needed to do that for like, 7 years now. RGB color support was added to the windows console in 2016: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/commandline/24-bit-color-in-t...

FWIW It looks like they're still in the project, but the boards just aren't loading correctly. If you go to your list of issues and try filtering by `project:<project id>` (e.g. project:microsoft/12345), then it'll

I mean, win+shift+s (the default snipping tool hotkey) to grab a snip is pretty elegant IMO. Copies it straight to the clipboard, or lets you save (& edit) it from the notification. Probably one of my most used shortcuts.

Customer verbatims are like, an incredibly valuable currency. It's all fine to say "I know the product in and out and I think this is important". But it's another thing entirely to say "I know this is important beca

Yea the extent to which you can make custom terminal shaders for the Windows Terminal is pretty unbelievable. This repo has a huge collection of crazy stuff (including a better CRT one): https://github.com/Hammster/wind

I kinda followed a similar trajectory. Started with a 15" MBP (2011) for years, and was super happy with that. It was a beast. But it was also a tank of a laptop. Then I got a Surface Pro 3. It was FAR more portable, enough to make me

I personally love glm[1] and the way you can just vec3 foo{1, 2, 3}; vec3 bar{2, 0, -2}; auto baz = foo + bar; // {3, 2, 1} [1]: https://github.com/g-truc/glmhttps://github.com

As it turns out, the thing Muratori suggested absolutely _didn't_ work for a large variety of edge cases. That was experimented with for a couple releases before being even _more_ substantially rewritten: https://github.com&

This is probably the biggest single change to the Terminal since release. Being able to tear-out tabs required a pretty substantial rewrite of the codebase - one that's been underway for years. We'd been actually going in a totall

For me, I only just realized I'd been doing it since college, like, accidentally. The way my schedule worked out, I just rarely ate before noon, and then usually ate dinner before 7pm. Only just recently did I realize that was technica

In my experience, there's two archetypes of terminal users: * Open one window and leave it open forever. Reuse that one for all commands. * Open a window, run a couple commands, and close it. For the second group, startup perf is ever

From my experience, the colon separator for 256/rgb attributes is a fairly recent clarification to the spec. I think that's the way it was always supposed to be. But when I was initially writing the 256 color support for the Windo

FWIW the Windows Terminal also natively supports panes & tabs for multiplexing: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/terminal/panes which were highly inspired by tmux.

Honestly, I would almost rather _not_ share the code, because it's Bad. Like, I just have one big <canvas> element and redraw all the entities (cards, tokens, etc) anytime there's input. It's got terrible performance fo

It's a very careful balance haha. I mostly just do spreadsheet updates on my phone at this point. I've got a very delicately balanced laptop next to the rocking chair, so I basically use a pillow to support the baby in one arm, an
