I love the liberal arts, but the idea that everyone needs to study them in order to be a good citizen is overstated at best. It's like saying everyone needs to learn to code to be a good citizen: a pretty thing to say, easy to find p

You can definitely default on student loans; plenty of people are. You just can't get them discharged in bankruptcy.

Unless you can decline benefits and have an equivalent dollar amount tacked onto your paycheck, I don't see why they should be taken into account.

My train commute is one of my favorite parts of the day, due to all the reading I get done. It's what you make it.

That seems like an overgeneralization. Some humans are more social than others. We're very complicated.

Bullshit. Everyone else doesn't "need" to put in longer hours so I can have a reasonable schedule, and it's in no way my fault if they decide to do that. I'm not a "free-rider". If my employer isn't s

Whistleblowing on mgmt is a great way to get blacklisted, and one person's ability to quit their job does not address the root cause of the abuse. Why should the burden be on the worker to find a new job anyway? If the abuse is coming

Family and career both require massive amounts of time and energy. It should be acknowledged that there is no way to fully commit to one without taking away from the other. So you'll have to make a difficult choice.

Traditionally, middle class has always meant that you own your own business. A hot dog vendor who owns their own cart is middle class. A doctor who works for a hospital is not. It has nothing to do with income or prestige.

As someone who does have a deep leftist bias, I honestly would not care if a Republican was doing this, unless the law was actually broken. Didn't Cheney have a man-sized safe in his office or something? I don't remember anyone on

I have no interest in working with a recruiter at all. I'm fully capable of applying to a company directly if I am interested. Recruiters are parasites who need to get a real job.

I don't think finding a way to get along with your coworkers despite personality differences is a specific personality trait. It's something any grown adult, or at least anyone worth hiring, should be able to do.
