Modern codecs detect noise, filter it out and add back artifical noise at the decoder (especially audio codecs can do this with all kinds of noise). I think back in the day, video compression would likely not have an issue as noise is high

Considering some of the behaviour described just amounts to bullying, Amazon should be liable for the bullying this caused, since it WILL cause suicides and deaths. Bullying is not to be taken lightly (of course the schools in the article

I am aware Chromosomes carry the genome, but leading the question is not quite fair as well. Since sex and gender were topics, it was well evident that I was talking about Chromosomal differences between humans, NOT gene-level differences.

What if I have a friend who, due to timezones, is never online when I am. Or very rarely. Seems a bit ignorant of the wider needs of an internet community to not allow people to talk if they don't share enough of a timezone.

Yes, I know about edge cases, but I think it's fair to count that as a cultural association with their ancestors over them being PoC.

That's in part because it's become feasible to brute force v2 Onion addresses, hence enforcing the use of v3.

As a company, they can only take what belongs to the company. Even if you're selfemployed they should only be able (IIRC, IANAL) to take things that are 100% part of the business.

Try to disable HTTPS Everywhere or Firefox' HTTPS Only Mode. Looks like this site is badly setup and can't handle HTTP-only requests properly.

Well, I didn't know that race is determined by your chromosomes. TIL I guess. And I don't see how someone would identify as black if they aren't, it's a melatin level in the skin. The issues about race have less to do wi

And what is the response that people who undergo female hormone treatments will have a distinct disadvantage over men who've not done that? Should they have to continue in a field they have this disadvantage in?

There are in fact rules. Currently for olympic distance running at 400 meters or further, a female must present with a certain maximum level of testosterone. This rule was specifically made to exclude an intersex female-presenting runner wh

Why not find a set of rules that works for 100% of people instead of leaving out the 1% for no other reason than "we have to continue with the rules we established as tradition".

I don't want to fragment, I want these people to be recognized as what they identify; women. Even if they don't have the right chromosomes, there is atleast a dozen reasons someone might still have grown up as female or identifies

An app faking the official look would open you up to so many liabilities and the GDPR watchdogs will probably just drool at the thought of anyone trying to defend that in a court after getting hammered by record fines.

GDPR Breach, plain and simple. No franchise would risk storing and leaking what amounts to medical records (since that is the source) in front of a GDPR Watchdog. Pretty sure you'd get the hammer if you did that. Either way, the offici

Multiple copies of a smaller file are still susceptible to bit rot. In fact, RAW is still more resistant because it can still be read even if multiple sectors corrupt, while many small files might each individually be toast. (And btw, parit

If you want to preserve fidelity indefinitely, PNG or RAW might be a better bet. Lossless formats usually are better for archival, you can always get a lossy compression out of it later and don't have to worry about generational losses
