News is fine. The problem is that most news business models compete for attention via: 1. alarmist content 2. clickbait headlines 3. polarizing viewpoints There aren't as many entities who simply try to deliver balanced

I think a problem is lack of respect for the fact that a huge part of design is WORK . It takes time and effort. Not innate talent or magic (though those help). A developer thinks "I need another 5 values from a user, so I'll put

I happen to work in a team. So I get paid to write code that works, that other devolopers can make sense of and hack on as well. That's why I write lots of tests. If Kent Beck is coding in a private bubble, he can do whatever he wants

I believe an important quality is that code should TELL A STORY. Consider a biography: you could simply collect facts about a person and write them in an arbitrary order and call it a biography. It could be a complete and accurate account,

It's not the thing that's being sold that is the problem. It's the systematic ways that the peddlers lie and game the system that prevent us us from making the choice in "lifestyle choice". Seems they got to you too

Tobacco killed 100 million. Sugary drinks alone are linked to 180000 deaths/year. (And of course big sugar lied to us http://www.nytimes.com/2016/09/13/well/eat/how-the-sugar-ind... ). So, yes.

Thanks. I use Jetbrains IDE's for coding where my colorschemes have a similar setup. Code, Comments, Strings, are different, and that's about it. Never got around to doing this in Vim which I still use for many tasks (who doesn&#x

React builds a pure function that maps data to UI. Flux is a fold over a stream of events that generates a stream of data states. That's ALL of it. What do you find to be inelegant: fold, or a pure map function?

Just accept unsatisfying, impractical truths, and despite that, allow yourself to have an illogical intuitionistic sense of things. That's what I do. :)

In order to experience/measure something, you must interact with it. Any interaction changes both sides. You can't experience the same ship twice.

Another name for phenomenon is: "reality". And the typical way non-"computer science researchers" overcome it is through a system known as "working" or "doing work". As a software developer, I sometim

What does it mean to exist? A thing exists specifically when it affects something else. What is measurement? It's a reciprocal affecting. So does a thing which is not affecting anything else and not being measured exist? No! QED
