the banks using C# are most probably windows users, right? (Mono is not for enterprise.....) I attended a confrence by a company named Micro Focus, and believe me, they were talking about renewing COBOL and teaching it to the undergraduates

Actually OpenJDK is the official one....... Aha So can I say its the platform of the future??? Everything cannot be native, and I do not think Mono is that good, and I am hacking in Clojure, so the JVM is the default choice.

Seems so, but from various sources, it appears that rich's working on the primary jvm implitation... Btw, will jvm remain the primary implimentation, after clojure in clojure ?

I intend to create concurrent programs, in pragmatic and lightwieght way, a good community support is a plus. Here the jvm and the googles' baby clash....

Yeah, but I really want to get into Clojure, the only problem is, in my short lifetime I have only heard of the criticisms on Java being owned by sun, and later oracle.

Also twitter has adopted the JVM to write its backend services in Scala. (It has dumped RoR). Also, now We are not stuck with Java 6 anymore (there is definately a development going on). Could we see a JVM Renaissance in the future? How abo

BTW, I am not only talking about web apps, but all the other stuff too... Apps, Solutions, Architectures... My direct question could imply that, how a large company like IBM depends on JVM, can a rising star, a new company or a small buisne

I do think that, Java may be another COBOL, but I am specifically talking about the JVM (I think, they should change its name.) I am concerned about the likes of Clojure (I am especially waiting for a Clojure-on-Clojure), Scala (Tweet it!)

Yeah, I understand how much indispensible C is in computer science... It IS difficult to list all... Ok, I ask to list by relevancy and popularity, like at least top 20?? Or at least list promising recent/upcomming projects.

Hey, thanks... I believe - Anything can reach very high, granted it dosen't lose aim/target... Javascript as a target is intrestingly beautiful, but this might fork up a way for yet another dart. Rust should remain, what its meant for....
