Dropbox will never get security right I fail to see how you conclude that. Yes, they did have several glitches in the past, and no, they did not always respond as they should have. But there are some pretty smart people working at Dropbox

A naive question here: Suppose I accidentally stumble upon a gaping security hole in my bank's online service (or any other online service for that matter). Am I legally obliged to notify them of that security bug? Can I offer the bank my a

Assuming Color et al. have no incredible innovation up their sleeves, any data set they would be gathering is most likely a subset of what Facebook already has on their graph. In that case, Facebook is very well positioned to execute faster

Absolutely. Facebook's behemoth social graph will easily steamroll over any new effort in this space. Color/Path/Instagram will need some insane differentiation in order to win this battle.

Well, most of the area is pretty low resolution. You can try zooming in on sensitive areas, probably the best bet would be on Dimona (alleged nuclear reactor), but I think you'll get the same low resolution pretty much anywhere.

This is not new, and has been known for many years. Interestingly enough, this policy is awkward - borderline useless - for two reasons. First, any satellite imagery, at any resolution, can be purchased on the private market, for the righ

True. @-tweeting the same message is indeed low hanging fruit. But spam gets sophisticated as the arms race continues. My assertion is that after a certain point (which we are not far from), Twitter as a platform will have a problem making

I'm not sure the heuristics are that simple. The signal-to-noise ratio in Twitter is already low as it is. Most tweets contain links, lots of users are followers but are not followed. Sure, combining several clever heuristics can reduce spa

I would argue that the most cheapest option for hosting static sites nowadays is on S3. At $0.14/GB and $1/million requests - I don't think you can get any cheaper. Or reliable, for that matter.

I have a gripe with this whole "resume 2.0" thing. It's not about a flashy design. It's not about specifically targeting the company you want to work for. It's about standing out from the crowd. Being special. Once everyone and their mother

The paper has not been peer reviewed yet. Therefore the conjecture has not yet been solved . Have we forgot the recent NP≠P paper? The author was also a highly-regarded scientist. That did not guarantee anything.

I've been hearing about LLVM for quite some time, but never fully grasped what it is . This article tackles everything you should know about LLVM. I'm finally starting to get it. Perfect.

This is an interesting point. The www. prefix seems to be slowly fading away from the landscape, but URLs without the prefix never felt like first-class citizens on the web. The inability to use CNAMEs in root level domains also affects oth

Personally, I find these aliases a bit too terse. Aliases are important for enhanced productivity, but shell aliases are too much. I find these git aliases much more comfortable: alias.st=status alias.co=checkout alias.c
