I graduated high school around 2010, before all of these dramatic declines in mental health seem to take place, and even back then I remember there being a lot of unhappy people in my peer group. Maybe a certain % of miserable teenagers is

Meeting in bars seems more organic to me anyway. Although admittedly I might be biased since I originally met my wife in a bar before dating apps had taken off.

Some people seem to really struggle to understand that abstraction is intrinsic to computer science. Trying to get as close to the metal as possible while using your daily driver is a fun hobby but there is nothing innately virtuous about i

Daniel is worth following on the Fediverse if you have an account. He shares interesting stories from maintaining curl such as one where a user raised an issue with curl but it turned out that curl was correctly identifying that the users a

It is conceivable that the universe could be contiguous. Our current scientific thinking points to it being constituted from discrete pieces though.

There is a bug which affects my Ryzen 5 2600 that means boost cannot compile with GCC using march=native. I'm fairly sure that switching to Clang will sort this out, so I'm looking forward to trying it out. Here's the bug if

OpenBSD is a good example of an OS that tries to adhere to old school design principals while offering modern features. It has some pretty bad rough edges but is impressive nonetheless. I use linux on my desktop but have an ancient Thinkpad

A concrete example of poor productivity in the UK would be that the country imported £10,000,000 worth of fax machines between 2012 and 2016. [1] Assuming these fax machines are being used instead of PCs then one could imagine a worker bein
