The alt combinations do not work on Windows, and I believe they don't on most (all?) Linuxes either. On my phone or I'd provide the equivalents.

Yeah this is pretty unfortunate. Sadly, having played through the puzzles that involve color, it's not superficial at all. The puzzles are fundamentally about how colors work and combine. There isn't an obvious way to make a color

This level of polish would be somewhat herculean to pull off in unity, and was not even close to possible when the game's development was started 8 or so years ago. Unreal maybe, but it also wasn't as viable a choice 8 years ago.

Pretty much no software high performance software has gotten there by not thinking about performance/optimization until the end. IME what you do is you structure your program so that the optimizations you suspect you will need to make

If you write in C you are probably fine for code size. Usage of the c++ stdlib can easily cause a lot of code bloat though if you are not careful, but I don't actually know how bad this gets (it used to be quite bad for native apps). T

These are totally fine most of the time. Typescript in particular looks like a good choice for game development. Sometimes the language is less of a good choice. E.g. i did a small toy project in coffeescript about two years ago, and found

Yep, and often the code that breaks what the comment says is far away. Too easy to change something that subtly invalidates a comment in some other module. Especially if you didn't write that module.

As someone with two Unity WebGL games in production, I wouldn't recommend this route. A fairly small game (~20kloc, so not a toy by any stretch, but small nonetheless) has 26mb of JavaScript code exported This kills the browser. Only g

Except that you can easily go from std::string to cstring and back in the same program. And many of the standard library functions work fine on c strings (probably over half of <algorithm>), etc. IMO theres no compatibility issue betw

Does Chrome still use SwiftShader? I've tried on a reasonably large number of machines to verify this, with no luck. Including machines that have blacklisted GPUs. It's clear that there seems to be some cases where it kicks in (or

As someone who has written a lot of C++ (and essentially no rust), I think you're mischaracterizing C++. It has a lot of magic that the compiler does for you under the hood, and even more if you are using libraries. If you want to unde

As someone in the games industry, I don't see anybody moving towards either of these languages over C++, or really even any excitement over them. I'd be very surprised if Rust displaces C++ here, and put the chance of Go doing so

You'll probably learn more if you choose Rust, but from what I've seen, way more companies use Go at the moment (since you mentioned this was from a career perspective).

I think it's mostly that C's lack of language features removes distractions. You have only a couple abstractions to work with if you're writing idiomatic C code, and so you can focus on the task at hand more easily. The trade

I'm honestly curious, do you know of any games that remained commercially successful after open sourcing, without having some secondary meta-game source of income (multiplayer servers, f2p, etc.) Eldritch, I know is, but I'm not s
