Surprisingly, I had managed to avoid any sort of layoff, firing for most of my career except that whole dotbomb era. Then COVID came and I had my first RIF, ever. I was told weeks in advance so I could prepare my documentation and handoff.

The old cars (40s and 50s) in Cuba for example are literally held together with ducktape, adobo, and chicken wire. If they even have an engine it's whatever they could find: lawn mower, motorcyle, or tractor engine. The cars from the 5

Most CFL bulbs for the home were total garbage. The colors were limited and the light was harsh. CFLs in the E26 bulb format ran too hot and the bulb electronic ballasts either smoked out or occasionally caught on fire. My country, France,

Around that time I was shipped out to do a video presentation with 3 laptops. 2 of them were cued up with Powerpoint and synchronized to play at the same time. If one went down I could switchover seamlessly. I also had a cold backup laptop

The Apple (80s-90s) that we know of became a powerhouse under John Sculley. It was no longer a garage startup and was now a billion dollar company and had to be run like a billion dollar company. Even in his bio Jobs admittedly brought in S

With so much of their military tied up in the boondoggle on their western front I guess now would be the perfect time to pounce on disputed territory. Knowing your enemy distracted.

Most of the retention issues is about retirement. The generation of Boomers are retiring or retiring early. Many civil jobs you can retire at age 55 or 20 years of service. So you have a very large generation of boomers hitting retirement a

The Russian space program isn't even in Russia. Baikonur Cosmodrome is in Kazakhstan. So you can see these countries hold a very high strategic value to Russia. The ghosts of the Soviet Union are still haunting us to this day.

Sidewalks went out of fashion because developers thought they took away property sq footage. So a 5000sqft SFH lot became 4800 sqft. But then homeowners realized if kids don’t have sidewalks they’ll play in the streets. If they could get aw

Probably not. The majority of the tenants in my building are young professionals and empty nesters. Families with children come through but are gone after a year. Once you're on that track it's very hard to go back to city living.
