It’s the hype cycle. Are LLMs going to become invaluable to software engineering? Definitely. Are they going to do everything everyone on X says they will? Probably not. Right now we’re in the peak of inflated expectations. Anecdotally I’ve

I’ve been using Thunderbird more and more over the past few months. I’m glad it’s finally getting some decent attention. I’m especially curious about the new account management in 140. I couldn’t add my iCloud calendar easily before, hope t

I've tried both, and the core component that is missing is empathy. A machine can emulate empathy, but its just platitudes. An LLM will never be able to relate to you.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was such a breath of fresh air in this regard. If you just want a reasonably priced, good game with no shady stuff but still that AA (arguably AAA) experience I can’t recommend it enough.

My assumption is that banning them outright will make it super obvious you can’t run adblock on chrome. With Manifest V3 limiting their capabilities but not getting rid of them, the layman user will still feel like they have adblock and are

Can someone help me understand why when there’s a record cold month, there’s a convo like this > non-believer: “see global warming doesn’t exist” > believer: “you can’t measure this on a monthly scale, it’s too slow of a process” But

I want to setup my configs using Nix and Home Manager but I just find it so confusing and not very user friendly. Every guide I’ve seen is either a really basic case of setting up a single package and config or an extremely complicated setu

I was wondering this too. I mean maybe he saw it from outside the car? I wouldn’t be surprised if this story was real but it’s missing some context.

I like the notion of this idea but 24 hours is ridiculous. It just reminds me of times of being so depressed that I didn’t want to do anything. I feel like there’s a somewhat of a vilification of doing something for fun. Whether it’s video

I have an SFFPC myself, but I fear their days are numbered with the ridiculous sizes of GPUs these days. Sure, a 3060 fits in this, but that’s hardly a cutting edge card. I had to bend my Ncase M1 to fit my 3070 on top of deshrouding it.

I think that makes sense but while you can control that yourself, controlling those workflows in a company of 1000+ employees with all these tools that their disposal is a large task in and of itself.

The headline does a poor job at explaining the article. It’s not really focused on notifications grabbing your attention. It’s about having to cycle through multiple apps just to get your tasks done. For example, someone asks you (on Slack)

Game companies need this. It’s one of the “software engineering” adjacent subfields that is extremely exploited. The salaries are low, the work is stressful, crunch is high. The reason for this dangerous combo? You’re working your dream job

I have a few of these in my city and I can happily say they’re widely used. Almost every time I have walked by one, someone is either withdrawing or depositing a book. Or both! It’s a really cool idea and I hope we can see more of them. It’

This is interesting. I’ve been using Bitwarden for a long time now but I didn’t realize how convenient a command line password manager would be. Still though, not being integrated with iOS is a non-starter for me but I really like this idea
