I remember 10+ years ago we were going to run out of IPv4 addresses and it was the next Y2K unless you adopted IPv6. I was able to get IPv6 for my servers and home, and I thought I was safe! > "In fact, IPv4's continued viabili

Yeah I've been using RSS to keep track of new mods for Cyberpunk 2077, Skyrim and Starfield. It's been fantastic to keep them all organized.

These are some ways I’ve been using the web in a way that keeps me free. - Run my own site (not much there yet) - Use RSS Feeds instead of Reddit - If a YouTube creator you like has a newsletter, SIGN UP! - If a short form content creator m

My partner and I were discussing our need for “third spaces” this week. We’re homebodies, and enjoy being home. However mundanity of wake, work, hobbies, sleep in the same place every day is getting to us. It’ll be a slightly different appr

Windows has been eroding my trust for a decade or so, and I really didn’t like having to make a Microsoft account to setup Windows. However there was that voice in my head whispering “Well, it’s not like you can play games on Linux.” or “Se

Stardew Valley is one of a few indie games that seems to be known outside the usual “gaming” circle. I have a few friends who’ve never engaged with any games but absolutely loved Stardew Valley. It’s the pinnacle of cozy, I suppose. Concern

In college one of our end of semester projects was to make a “peer to peer” client. Not specifically BitTorrent. It was so much fun! Coming up with the ways of handshaking, chunk sizes, etc. It was so cool to see it actually work as a new s

My coworkers do sure. But I don’t have to completely reread what I wrote to grok it. That’s the issue. You either prompt and read the code it wrote to understand it before making a PR, or you prompt and drop the PR for your team. The latter

There’s definitely exceptions. My GSP 670s were the best quality cans for sure. But the headset itself was super uncomfortable for the price.

I appreciate you sharing this and it looks made with care. It also seems like a cool take on how to use LLMs. This isn’t for me, but thanks for sharing.

Gaming headsets, especially the expensive ones were a trap I fell into for a long time. They’re overpriced for sure, quality varies but they usually last a few years. They’re always all so uncomfortable too. I broke out and ended up getting

The Claude Code integration with IntelliJ (or any Jetbrains IDE for that matter) is the perfect combination. That is the perfect world to me. An entire company maintaining a fork of VS Code just doesn't compute to me, but its how you s

Yeah that’s true. I also built a couple feeds for some sites I use that have an API but no feed.

I really hope sites continue their RSS feeds. It seems like less and less of them have them available or don’t care to keep them updated.

For the record I don't think they have to support the same level as GitHub. It's just one of the biggest barriers for me and my projects is all.

It exists yes, but you need to request access to it (which is manually reviewed), comes with a bunch of restrictions and it’s a limited resource. I have several projects I’d want to move over but thats enough of a barrier for me to lose int

Game Informer is doing the same. I got the most recent copy and it was just a breath of fresh air. Articles written for their content, not to fill some quota or drive clicks. It was a month late (mostly stuff about SGF) but it didn’t matter

As expected we’re getting closer and closer to the Trough of Disillusionment. That’s not a bad thing, because it leads to the Plateau of Productivity.[1] Anecdotally for myself I’m finding that LLMs are great when I can give it a hyper spec

All of these agentic IDEs could just be visual studio code plugins. They’re likely not because how do you secure VC funding for a plugin?

Honestly what a great application of LLMs. FFmpeg is a very powerful tool, and as with most powerful tools is very complicated to run correctly. Do the files get uploaded though? Or does it just grab the location on disk?

I really think they excel at greenfield work, and are “fine” at writing code for existing systems. When you are unfamiliar with a library or a pattern it’s a huge time saver.
