I seriously doubt that anyone who wanted to play the game a week ago couldn't find a beta key floating around somewhere to play (there are about a million key giveaways on reddit, etc). I think that Valve getting rid of the beta statu

I think the reason I like telnet is because I control what is being sent down the line. It's not like telnet has any contextual knowledge of what I'm sending, so it can't do any translations on it; I get to choose exactly how

Considering that XCode uses a version of clang (which is open source) for it's compiling, I wouldn't say that the main compiler is proprietary either. I think that what people mean is that all of the "usefulness" of Obje

For the record, you can't manually upgrade the RAM on a Macbook Air (it's soldered to the motherboard), so selling a RAM upgrade on them is reasonable. On the other computers it is important though.

I use fish. It's pretty fun to use. It has some pain points (most notably missing things like subshells and inline variable exporting) but it's in beta, so we'll see where it goes. I love the completions though, and it's definitely worth ch

She took the picture before she got the pycon people involved. You can tell because of the times on her tweets. The picture was tweeted at 10:32, and she started calling for the pycon staff at 10:34.

It looks to me like they're just obfuscated words. If you look at one of the hierarchies, you see "TUdKmf-xhiy4-haAclf", then "TUdKmf-xhiy4-DKlKme-haAclf", then "TUdKmf-xhiy4". Seems like they're just taking a normal class like "note-body-w

I'll agree that EA did a terrible job of explaining to people why the new game was different than the old ones (i.e. why it might require always-online). I think the key point comes from this (taken from the OP): > Players who want to r

I think it is data. People are claiming that the game _does not work_, so if it's working for somebody, then the servers must be doing something. People are claiming that the servers have literally been down for the past week and a half, wh

Guild Wars 2 sells an actual MMO as a one-time fee, and they're doing just swell. I've heard most people claim that as one of its benefits, not a downside. Not sure what that means, just wanted to point out that people often do enjoy single

I regularly get up to about 30-40 tabs. I'm a spacial thinker, so I can remember where the content that I want is relative to it's position in the tab bar (+- about 2 tabs usually), so having the icons disappear doesn't bother me. I just co
