If you've only had a spot instance pre-empted from you once then you haven't used them very much. We have a very elastic workload that can scale up to a few hundred spot instances and it's not uncommon to see tens of them yan

My work mac has both Carbon Black and FireEye. It takes 30% longer to do a large build of an open source project than my personal laptopk, despite having 2 more cores and twice the RAM.

> I have a good guess what’s going on: It’s proving really hard to make a CPU (or SoC) that’s perceptibly faster than the M1. Here’s why. This is daft. Chips are not something that you can finalise the design of and have in customers han

We're already at the point where a transistor is a double-digit number of silicon atoms. The cost of each node shrink is growing at an insane rate. The good times might be back for now - and don't get me wrong, I'm having a b

This is a tragic market failure. As climate change is making more of the Earth's surface hospitable to ticks, I hope this gets revisited at some point in the future.

Apple has publicly stated their intent to permit users to run other operating systems on Apple silicon, and has provided various mechanisms for them to do so in a first-class way (still supporting secure boot, for instance). Of course, the

At a certain level the question is academic, and lawyering over definitions only distracts from the bigger picture. I trusted Facebook with my mobile number. They permitted bad actors to mis-use their service, and now bad actors have that n
