Without having looked at the code I'm guessing he used unimplemented language features in the non-obfuscated version, then re-wrote to avoid using them in the obfuscated version.

For stuff that is available in the App Store, I prefer to get it there, even if it's more expensive than buying it directly from the vendor. It means that when I set up a new system I can go to my purchases tab and quickly re-install t

We have a few large (not large in the scheme of things, but large for MySQL) tables that we can't add columns to without locking the table for an extended period. In Postgres this operation is instant no matter the size of the table. T

At my current gig, we've been burned pretty badly by scalability problems with MySQL, and the prevailing wisdom is that new functionality and services that have to deal with data at scale should be built on Cassandra. My cries of "

I like the idea of an expansion. In particular, the current vanilla gameplay seems to lack any concrete goals to work towards once you get your first rocket launched - you're just expanding your base for the sake of it. Which is a lot

I have an ultrasonic humidifier and I swear by it. The water here is quite soft so I don't have much trouble with the dust Alec complains about.

very interesting link, thank you. The exact language is > Although some short squeezes may occur naturally in the market, a scheme to manipulate the price or availability of stock in order to cause a short squeeze is illegal.

The article implies something nefarious going on here, but there are plenty of entirely rational innocent explanations. i.e. the videos are attracting a large quantity of spam dislikes, and YouTube is bulk-removing them.

Not sure about Chrome, but the ARM build of Firefox still uses Rosetta to execute the DRM modules in a separate process. Spotify also does not yet have a universal binary.

It's funny, in Sweden I've been having the opposite experience. Local stores almost always specify if they have stock accurately and what the lead times are if not, and delivery is usually as quick as specified. Amazon usually com

I'm not sure we have enough information to draw that conclusion. The thunderbolt ports on the M1 are driven directly from the SOC, so adding more would have meant adding a hub chip, which may have been deemed not worth the cost either

It's possible to care about more than one thing at a time. It's also possible to take a broader look at a problem such as arms control and say that in the long term the proliferation of capabilities is detrimental to humanity as a

Indeed, for a side project I have, I have a problem I want to be able to solve of "encrypt a file with a passphrase in a way that's secure and can be decrypted with standard tools". PGP is the best option for this, but I'

I recently went looking to buy a lossless digital copy of one of my favourite albums. The album is fairly recent but still old enough to not be in stock anywhere. But, I did manage to find a used CD on Discogs' marketplace.

Maybe this is easier with the way homebrew does things (I prefer MacPorts) but then you have to manage a bunch of symlinks to bring in the stuff you DO want to use by default. I actually hadn't thought to try this approach, though. The
