Those are both American countries, but that isn't necessarily the point, which is a historical one. Tapping bits of seemingly infinite natural resources to expand land-owning constituencies has played an overwhelming role in the hist

I'll take that as "nothing." Marx's analysis on the accumulation of capital has nothing to do with Malthus. You haven't even answered my question. Why would I waste my time? That said, Marx was a 19th century econom

A housing situation like the modern US would have been ridiculous for any 19th century European to write about. Having most of a population living in homes occupied by their owners was unheard of and irrelevant at that time and/or plac

> And I've always wondered whether it isn't a bit of a scam, really. Karl Marx showed us exactly how the scam works over 150 years ago and his analysis on the accumulation of capital has never been disputed.

Well played! And, as someone who considers open source/free software movements politically infantile, kudos for advocating bans on restrictive code-signing practices. Profit is the problem, not the solution.

The NYC metro pass system has all of those exact same issues. I find it frankly absurd to be nitpicking such details in the face of such an accomplishment.

Such ridiculous redefinitions of terms only happens in the US for propaganda purposes, and it works. Anywhere else, "unemployment rate" means what you'd think it means.

My girlfriend's Apple TV setup makes me jealous every time I use it. I don't even like TV, but Apple TV has the best interface by far, and the touchpad on the remote is perfect for scrubbing through video.

It's obviously utter nonsense. No serious and/or somewhat intelligent person could interpret said figure to have any useful meaning or need this explained to them. It's just plain bullshit.

The same goes for free software too. It may be "anti-capitalist" in sentiment, but it's just foolery as political practice. It's anarchist and cathartic at best. It is understandable that technologists could be inclined

In aggregate, open source software under capitalism will always be of and in service of capitalists. All exceptions are simply that; exceptions with no potential to be anything more without a new political economic system of relations.
