To some, these might infuse some level of specific nostalgia[0], which is in many respects picking up steam in these regions in the last few years. [0] https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_nostalgia

I read about this recently here: https://foreignpolicy.com/2013/05/30/the-bomb-didnt-beat-jap... Fascinating how much sense it makes. Likely the truth is somewhere in-between.

This actually works suprisingly well on my phone! Well done, love being able to modify masses mid-scenario and see the whole system disintegrate.

Both Mustard and Brilliant look really cool. In fact in this video I wasn't sure at times whether the footage was CGI or real, testament to how good rendering is these days.

You will roll out a fix in your application. Just like every major website when Chrome breaks something. The scenario that Chrome is so broken you can't handle it with an update is even less likely, I'd imagine.

I know that mentioning other language on a thread about A language is contentious, but if you haven’t played with Nim, I seriously recommend you check it out.

I think this might be a historical accident. What typed language could ppl use? Java, C++ mostly? They’re (for me) both a horrible mess. I think ppl will start using these “new” typed languages from get go: TypeScript (or Flow+JS), Hack, th

Love both gaming examples, but you’re proving OP’s point. Those are very specifically technologically limited games (ie not requiring the same resources as AAA games). Disruption is possible, but the complexity argument stands.

Many reasons. S-expressions would be the least of my worries. Java is dying, not on the whole, but certainly in mindset of people who are picking new languages. It’s integration with OSs, which Clojure depends on, is arcane by today standar

If your everyday language is JavaScript, use shelljs. It’s great. You’ll get portable scripts in no time. Sure it’s “slow”, in a way that likely doesn’t matter because of what you’re calling from the script.

I love Space X, but this was my first thought when intra-planetary flight was announced. You save a lot of flight time, but if it’s gonna take the same or more preflight time, the savings are vastly diminished. I would love it if someone (c

There's a bunch of (usually pretty arcane) software for generating cards. I like this because it takes JSON, as opposed to having to click around a GUI. The real challenge though is to get a nice design. You should be able to put in so
