Compare with actual company building an engine that can power a huge scale MMO - for over 8 years, stuffed with FAANG alumns and Cambridge graduates, and probably valued over a billion dollars: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wi

Dragon is 4.4 meters (14.4 feet) tall and 3.66 meters (12 feet) in diameter. Starship fairing payload envelope is 22m tall and 8m in diameter. More than 3 dragons would comfortably fit inside.

At the end of the paper it says that one frame takes 10secs to render. I wonder whether one day this method will be able to render in real time (say 30fps).

Took a long time to start, crashed on first save (~losing all my work in that session~ it's back! weird bugs). Some glitches with the parsing. But it is so lovely! We should build an open source version.

Why not roll the containers off the ship - like a stone block of a pyramid? "All you need" is a ramp (or a hole in the side).

It’s not clear how to define a new entity out of another one using a selector. So perhaps instead of/in addition to `x.use(foo)` you might want `x.select(foo).use()`. Not sure if simpler but something I’d be missing/would feel inc

Spaceship Solar System and Spaceship Milky Way are also real, but luckily we don’t have a way to mess those up yet. In that view Earth might be a cabin, the only one that we really have long term access to. Mars might be a new, very empty a

Not to discourage, but I think it's worth writing: I too was very much in love with conciseness, and spent a lot of my time with CoffeeScript, and had a blast. That said, if you either - Work with another one person or more - Want to c

I think TS had better tooling and implementation. Flow continues to improve and had some better design decisions early on. Flow has focused on internal FB needs over open source needs. All in all, I think the soundness is not a negative &#x

Nah. This doesn’t change the semantics of JS. As numerous sibling commentors pointed out, distinguishing between null and undefined is not a good idea in normal JS either. This was simply a bad design decision in TS, especially given that C

Some codebases prefer `TItem` - the preceding T signifies that this is a type variable, not a type, which is quite helpful when reading type signatures.

TypeScript got `!= null` wrong. In Flow (and CoffeeSript) null and undefined are treated the same, and `!= null` is preferred. You do not want to deal with code that treats null and undefined differently. Otherwise this is a great list!

Perhaps, but I'm not sure it's so clear cut. The best practice should be concrete - it should have code examples. It should be beginner friendly (since it's beginners who will use it most often).

I was hoping for a discussion of the “substantial portions” term. The explanation focuses on use as a dependency, but what if I take some MIT code and modify it and include it directly in my project? What counts as “substantial portion”?

Funny to see this here, as I just referenced this for my toy project (via a Google search). If you're toying with Rust, `anyhow` is what you want (the blog post describes what to do if you want to go beyond printing errors as strings).
