The fonts don't seem to matter. This thing is super cool but I disagree that it's not debilitating. `ls` on my home directory takes 0.005 real, `colorls` takes 0.554 real. Over 100x as long and it's an extremely noticeable ha

It's worth noting that from 2015 and on, iMacs can no longer be used in target display mode.

> features get deferred It's actually the opposite, bug fixes get deferred in favor of more features. Fixes make your player base happy, but they already paid and are therefore not worth any more money, new features drive sales.

A real hacking movie would be deathly boring. My favorite hacking in movies is either when it's cheesed up to the max (visually interesting) or happens off screen (more realistic).

Which is somewhere between irrelevant and a good thing because of the way their products are sold. Namely, consumers search "power bank" on amazon and buy something in the top 5-10 results. The more positions on that list Anker ca

They may be, but they're not using their AI knowledge to drive better features or experiences for their users. It seems like they're just using it to deliver better advertising.

Huawei replaced mine. They have something like a 15 month warranty from date of manufacture so check with them and see if you're still in that range.

This is awesome! I've long thought of making something like this. One caveat though, I would never pay $5/mo for it. If you're writing the recipes, consider advertising and product placement as a revenue stream.

Nintendo doesn't get any money from me buying a used cartridge though, so in terms of financial benefit to the rightsholders I don't see a difference.

Those adapters are fine now, but what about in 10 years when it's even harder to find a working NES? 20? 50? At some point there will be no more working systems and cartridges, but because of the efforts of pirates these games can and

That's not what I said. I'm not very picky at all, I have two requirements for streaming services: have the content I want and do not advertise to me. There are several services that satisfy this requirement: Netflix, HBO Go, Goog

Honest answer: piracy. If companies won't let you pay to avoid advertising, let them know it's a problem by not paying at all.

I like OkCupid's solution to this problem a lot. You pay $5 once and they never serve you an ad again. If you think about it, $5 is probably more than they could ever hope to make serving ads to a single occasional user.

Yeah but there's no chance to make it big driving for Uber/Lyft. You're just letting other skills you might have wilt while you wait for your job to be automated out of existence.

What's weird to me is the addictive qualities of "gig economy" jobs. I have friends who had real jobs and could have them again, but continue to drive full time for uber/lyft/postmates/whatever because they ins

If the company only makes $20 bucks on it, then they're losing $80 by giving it away. That's how profit margins work.

The sad thing is none of those logos and links have any meaning any more, almost all of them go to 404s, domain parked pages, or completely unrelated sites, and even when they were new they went to scummy ecommerce or porn sites. In 12 year

No, people without banks currently buy amazon gift cards and shop at amazon anyway. This is just saving them the effort of typing in the gift card code.

If you know unbanked people this is just an extension of the normal practice of buying Amazon gift cards at grocery stores and then using them. Honestly I think that's most of the reason why Ralphs sells Google Play/iTunes/Be
