Facebook should email those affected... surely they know who was compromised or not. Shouldn't have to use random sites for this. Why has there been no communication from them?

If the data is that critical, surely you would be backing it up frequently and also mirror it on at least one geographically separate server? I use a single server at OVH, and I'm not in the affected DC, but if this DID happen to me I

There’s a lot of proprietary hardware inside the MacBook M1s. The only reason device drivers exist is thanks to reverse engineering efforts. For this reason, no you can’t just install any vanilla ARM distro and expect things to work.

Most aren't putting more than 5% in. Tesla is one of the larger buys I think they put in around 7%. Still, if it goes to 0, it won't matter much at those percentages. Conversely, if it ends up going up more, it'll probably go

It's not at 1740. It closed at 28K last week. Peak was like 38K. Unless you stopped investing completely after the peak you'd still have done alright in the Nikkei. Not anywhere near as good as US stocks, but it would still be bet

But BTC is only dominant in market cap, ETH is the most widely used blockchain. Sidechains on BTC have been a topic of discussion for awhile now, and frankly none have gotten a huge amount of traction. At some point the network effects that

I remember Counterparty (XCP) tried something like this a long time ago. Not full blown smart contracts, but things like asset creation (tokens) and decentralized exchanges like on Ethereum. Anyway at the time they received a lot of pushbac

Had the same issue. I sold my 16" MBP and moved to the 13" M1 MBP. Performance is comparable (if not slightly better) and the fans almost never go on unless I'm compiling code and maxing out all cores.

Yeah, sorta wrong. Sure, computers are already really fast, but the big thing with the M1 Macs for me is that they've finally came out with a laptop that doesn't heat up like crazy when I'm using it for moderately demanding t

I wouldn’t get a 4K display since most of them are still only 60Hz. Yeah, you don’t need a higher refresh rate to program but it makes daily desktop use SO much more pleasant for me. There are some high refresh rate 4K 27”s but those are pr

Yeah, KVM. Someone setup a repo here with a starter config: https://github.com/Leoyzen/KVM-Opencore You'll need to build a bootable disk image with the EFI folder there, but that should mostly work out of the box.

One screen, two GPUs. For the screen I've got an LG 38GL950G, and the GPUs are a Radeon WX5100 (macOS) and RTX 2080 Ti (Windows). I run the Linux host (Ubuntu) headless. I have the macOS side connected via HDMI and Windows via DisplayP

I use OpenCore but have switched my Hackintosh system over to running in a VM (using GPU passthrough). It's easier for me to backup / make changes this way, and there is only a minor performance hit. This is a Geekbench run from m

I’m only getting 4-5W usage on the 5500M GPU at 3440x1440@100Hz, fwiw. Which is a fairly high refresh rate for that res. However, I only get the low power usage when in clamshell mode. Driving the built in display plus my monitor makes it s

Yeah, the MBP 16” is pretty comparable to the Dell XPS in price - at least when comparing base models. However, the costs go up a lot if you spec out a custom config (+$400 just for 32GB RAM). Then the MBP starts looking quite a bit more ex

I picked up the MBP 16" and I've been pretty happy with it. No issues, coming from the 2013 rMBP. I held off on buying a new laptop for awhile due to all the keyboard issues, glad they've gone back to the old design. I do wis

Shared folder support is lacking. I have to use NFS to share any folders in VMs when using QEMU and virt-manager. Which isn’t necessarily bad but it’s an extra config step. The built in method (which uses Plan9 I think?) is a huge headache

Didn’t look at the code that closely, but there’s an option to only test the server for the exploit. As long as that is enabled, it doesn’t appear to write any files, etc. I would say it might be better to just test against a localhost serv

Nope, it's awful. I will likely stop using the site if they ever do away with the old design option. I just can't stand how slow the new one is in comparison. If they fixed the performance, I guess it would be tolerable to use. No
