They do not. It's an old myth - the society used to blame schizophrenia on bad parents, especially mothers. This has no grounds in medical research.

I considered training our cat to do this, but there's a bunch of advice out there saying that it may be harmful to your cat, and may be difficult as the cat gets older. So please consult with your vet before going this route.

"The modern housecat is just about as natural as a naked human living wild in the forest. It has been selectively bred..." I think it would be better to say "The modern housecat is just about as natural as a modern human livi

I was going to suggest "Understanding physics" by Asimov. I think "On physics" is a collection of essays where "Understanding physics" is more a complete bottom-up treatment like Petzold's "Code"

I recommend the author's book "In Persuasion Nation", a collection of short stories, mostly a kind of near-future sci-fi satirizing excesses of commercialism. Here is a story that made me pick up the book after I heard it on

This reminds me of a self-working trick I saw online in the 90s. The website shows you a hand of 5 cards, and asks you to pick one card and stare at it intensely. It claims it will read your mind and guess the card. When ready, you will cli

I can't tell the relationship in your example. Do you mean relationship in terms of appearance or pronunciation? Я maps to "ya" sound in Russian, И is "ee" and Н is "N" in Russian and "ee" in mod

I don't think it's possible to be more fluent then a native speaker. You can sound more educated, or elite, or have better verbal skills or otherwise have a "gift of the gab", but a language is defined by the native spea

Pedantic nitpick here, but the issue you are raising is orthography, not pronunciation. A difficult pronunciation implies that a language has difficult sounds that non-native speakers can't pronounce (regardless how those sounds are sp

It's somewhat analogous to the claim that almost every spoken sentence had never been spoken before in the history of language.

I'm not sure I agree. I'd much rather that doctors base their decisions on what they read in publications in their field rather than do their own research.

Agree about not taking medical advice from people on the internet. It's also best not to form life decisions on any one study. This includes studies that show multivitamin benefits as well as those that show slight increase in mortalit

There's only one unpaired word antonym in that sentence, the second to last. Rest are regular words, but "negated unpaired idioms", which seem to be easier to read.

I would love to read something similar about a "for" loop. "if/else" always sounded natural to me, but a "for" to mean a loop never did.
