I did a very similar thing. I love the experience of coffee shops and neighborhood-style bars. I really want to produce a particular experience for others to enjoy. So I started modeling the business and.. holy shit. At BEST I'm cleari

In the sense that people looking for a new career will move towards non-tech paths instead - hell no. These layoffs are minor. I think the opposite will become increasingly true: folks that otherwise would not be found in a computer scien

Yes. "crying for no reason" hits home for me. Also back in the industry. Still feel on the edge of a break at times, but I hold on now rather than throw my hands up and quit because having SOME external constant is very useful to

But then it's static while transactions aren't occurring. This only makes sense to me in a system in which the load IS a transaction like a payment gateway, or a strict single tenant architecture. You're not gonna scale when

Are you me? Jesus I took a regular job in January 2020 because I was over being a contract developer working at home. No luck now.. I agree fully with you. I'm in my 30s though everything else the same. I would definitely feel opposite

Thanks for that comparison. I have never truly experienced addiction without losing self control for whatever reason. I can start and stop smoking, drugs never took a hold. I feel the pull for sure, but am able to stop. But I lose several h

Right. It's a harmful bias to have as a recruiter/hiring manager. At their own peril, I guess! But honestly I've never heard of it outside this thread. It universally seen as at least "this person passed a very high hiri

I'll concede it's a useful crutch for those 1-2y out of a bootcamp. I even used it to get internships in university. And it's the advice I give to my friends in that position. But not OPs situation here.

Huh.. not only the quote but also the promotion bit. I'm shocked. Must be a case of her having read this tweet and subconsciously regurgitating it. Otherwise I'm scared for our eventual chatgpt overlords.

Glad you got some relief. It is truly puzzling. My doc stopped at Linzess, of course. Ultimately I don't want to take a pill every day for the rest of my life. Have a pointer to the folks that helped you?

Until ChatGPT, the term "artificial intelligence" felt like a misnomer for any of the tech that came out in the last 10y (which seemed mostly like statistical techniques for solving specific optimization problems).
