I can’t imagine there not being some kind of “hey I’m still in here” button or slider or whatever. Preferably not electronic.

There’s more than just humans and their tech here to worry about though. I get so depressed when I hear people describe the gravity of climate change only in terms of the chance of survival of us humans.

I don’t understand why we have to put microcontrollers in everything. I think a toilet on a train is basically the same use case as a toilet on a plane and all the planes I’ve been on, all had an old fashioned sliding lock mechanism that wo

Maybe phrase it more like you’re actively discussing a problem with them instead of making it sound like an ultimatum, but I agree that talking to your manager about this is a good idea. The managers I’ve had have always been fine human bei

I’m sorry if it came across as a complaint. It’s just the consequence of me sticking with this 8 year old phone. I’m a bit sad I can’t try your awesome looking project, but it’s because of my own stubbornness :-)

This looks really cool and has a wonderful story behind it. But I’d have to get a new phone to try it, as my OG iPhone SE only supports up to iOS 15, and the App Store says this requires iOS 17…

There are some really wild stories about Wim Hof. I read that he would sometimes sit on a fountain in a park in Amsterdam, using it to flush his bowel. Then one day, the fountain nozzle was changed without him knowing, and next time he did

Anything travel related probably, as a good number of people will have traveled to the conference, and will likely travel to other conferences and will take the banded thing with them. Where it's probably even seen by the correct audie

A comment on another post linked to oldweb.today, and the first thing I tried visiting was Altavista. I loved Altavista so much, and I want to believe that the fact Altavista inspired Oldavista means there are more people who did.

I read somewhere that the colour palette is pretty much a representation of the colours the designers of the chip liked.

It does seem to have an emphasis on not so saturated colours. Especially brownish colours. Compared to for example an NES it’s very limiting I find.

I think even people who don’t have diabetes could benefit from this. Would having access to my own glucose levels throughout the day give me some insights into how what I eat influences my own mood, energy levels etc?

I like that. I feel similar. I picked it up locally, and while I was driving over, I thought to myself: why am I even doing this, I have a perfect MacBook. But I'm happy I did it. It feels better in a way. Somehow like vinyl maybe, but

Yeah I do miss the sound :-( it feels fake without it. But I ran out of hard drives… EDIT: I do have an 80MB MFM drive but that would be weird.

No PCI, but I do have VLB. Graphics card and IO card are in VLB slots. I have 20MB RAM. For storage I’ve gone through several old hard drives but they all ended up failing. So I went with a CF card to IDE adapter. Mouse is serial, because I

I just bought a used Thinkpad T470, and with arch linux (btw), hyprland, and neovim, I’m starting to like this machine more than my M1 macbook. The one thing I always thought my M1 couldn’t be beat at by an IBM compatible laptop is battery

I can’t read the whole article because of the paywall, so I don’t know if it’s mentioned, but I guess a large factor is also subsidies. If you buy an electric car in Canada (where I am) you get a 7k$ subsidy, but only on new cars, which mak

To me it feels like they prepend every search query with “where to buy”. Or when I ask for more specific things, like “cheap used Linux laptop”, it goes like naaaah, surely you mean “best laptops you can buy in 2024”.
