What seems weird is that with the massive number of Starbucks closures I've seen smaller indies and local chains open up in the exact same locations and somehow make a go of it- how does that work?

This obviously isn't true unless you think half the population is "evil". It doesn't help anyone's cause when you try and position it as "us vs. Them, and they're wrong"

SQL is really close to a natural language that's unambiguous, there's a few rough edges but it's not bad. Anything more natural requires a lot of context and needs to solve ambiguity.

I don't think I have a problem with the concept, but do with someone who feels this is their only option, organizers making money off of this and viewers who would demand this and pay for it. Individuals taking extreme personal risks?

It doesn't have to be this way though. Women's basketball doesn't have as much violent contact as the men's game but is a better spectator sport IMO. women's hockey is also great without the crushing blows and no fi

Everything you say is true, but where the financial success comes from is leveraging this (well earned) reputation to support high, no negotiation, take it or leave it prices, and often mandatory financing. We'll see if the market cont

If you can find time a few weeks later September is much better. Less smoke and fewer tourists-especially the rental motorhomes. Weather is a crapshoot year round but August and September pretty similar (unless it snows in either month!) No

All merchandise is commercial. Do your kids wear a Nike swoosh t shirt? Okay on an iPad? Love Lego? What the difference if it's a Microsoft football or new relic slingshot (all things I see from where I'm sitting)?

This is not a great example. It's based on essentially one player, Rick Barry, who shot underhand at a high percentage. There are no bad underhand foul shooters, which I find suspicious, Yet I can cherry pick very tall, very good foul

The warthog is a pretty ugly plane IMO, yet well loved and highly productive, so function seems to have won.

Any capital intensive project can become a resistant monopoly for the first mover, who then manipulates pricing to prevent competition.

Not sure how optimism in technology translates into raging free market libertarian in a few sentences, but then this guy's never been very subtle or aware. I'm sure his 30-year-younger self would want to kick his today's ass.

There's lots of good "serious" php out there, the challenge is it has been so accessible there's even more garbage php that's crowded out the go stuff.

I agree! I think it's actually easier to avoid the big, weak network because it started as a professional tool. I curate my connections and don't accept every recruiter or sales person who sees it as yet another marketing channel.

There's very little correlation between a company that's deeply integrated with LinkedIn tools and what it's like to work there. If you're going to judge all companies based on their recruitment toolchain, good luck find

I built this for my chest freezer years ago (including the domain chowcaster.com), which used a barcode scanner to add/remove items. It worked better than a pantry because 1. Less items and typically higher cost, 2. You usually make a

That's pretty unfair. It doesn't look like an html page they'd create for the web but I'm pretty sure they'd recognize html and css. Would someone who templated it in react see the connection?

This history is a pretty convenient interpretation. MS mad big money on their OEM deals and this is after they were all ready being paid for each IBM machine. They were also 10-15 years old at this point
