I am hoarding older thinkpads at this point. The soldered RAM ones I am not touching. The older ones are cheap to upgrade and pretty snappy. I havent bought a new laptop since 2009.

They can only do this in the USA. The battle bottleneck is going to be GPUs and countries that have access to it will leap ahead of the US if arbitrary regulations are put in place to neuter LLMs in the US.

Also the deal to make the browsing model to only use Bing. That's bait and switch. I paid for browsing, and now it only browses Bing. They even had the gall to update the plugin name to Browsing with Bing.

Nothing seems thought through with some of these policies. A lot of these types of governments see nothing wrong in making normal citizens run through hoops. Increasing amounts of vague rules are being brought in India like the credit card
