If you type everything with interfaces in your codebase, you are much less tied to inheritance. In fact, everyone could be written to be composed. However Java doesn’t support type union so you can get into some ugly and verbose situations

Wouldn’t say tech is there yet. It still needs a lot of human input and direction so slapping it into a video game would just be immersion breaking when it generates something out of character randomly. There’s less impactful ways to implem

I think cities do this because it’s cheaper. Parking enforcement costs the same whether it’s private or public but you can extract more money out of it by being dirty. It’s a bad look for the city if they’re dirty but if the private company

Well I got my benefit at half-gigabit by being able to do off-site backups reasonably. It was not as reasonable before. Although a more rare use case, I also throw vids on my media server and my friends and family can browse. It basically o

The government isn’t pursuing this because of the language. It’s because they think Google legitimately did anti-competitive things. They took down Al Capone not because of the tax evasion but rather because he was a crime lord. Tax evasion

Still saves a lot of money a lot of time and I've never had a problem with a booking company and I've booked a lot of things via booking companies. That doesn't mean I won't go to a hotel website if it's a chain I h

Oh I know. I do that all that time. (And in SmartFGit, you can select any two commits.) But I said conceptually and that’s how I see them and it works for me.

I think Git is conceptually simple... each commit is just conceptually a diff from a previous commit -- possibly from two commits. Branches and tags are just pointers to a commit. A merge is when you join two commits and thus may result in

Yeah you're right. For some reason I was thinking only NSO had these zero-days, which is not possible.

This is going to be controversial and I don’t want the Amazon to continue deforestation but it’s not quite fair that both Native Americans and the USA as well as the rest of the world deforested a lot of land already in pursuit of developme

Every company I’ve worked with has phish baited employees and I’ve never had any problem. It keeps you on your toes and that’s good. What happened in the article — getting access to one person’s MFA one time — is not exactly a catastrophic

Well all Google needed to do to make it at least a little harder is to encrypt the backup with a password at least. The user can still put in an insecure password but uploading all your 2FA tokens to your primary email unencrypted is basica

Funny thing — heating a hot water tank is still storing energy in a battery. Charging your car is still putting energy in a battery. And the article mentions that devices sometimes have a built in battery. The article is talks about getting

I went from the 10 to 14 and that was a massive improvement. Highlights (the brightest areas on a scene with both very dark and very bright spots) were massively overblown on the 10. It’s much better on the 14, for example, although you can
