I'm too young to refute your point but can you give examples of pre-internet companies that had fan bases as rabid as Apple and Android?

It's certainly within the rights of a company to terminate upon first missed payment, even if it's the fault of PayPal. However, it's NOT ok to terminate accounts that have been paid for and then act childish towards your customer. Edit: I

If it weren't for this "blog spam", how would HN know about it? Obama may or may not have killed a baby in 1991 but pictures of him appearing to kill a baby would certainly be newsworthy.

Hopefully (for Apple) they used an image that Samsung actually produced somewhere in a pre-release mock up or ad or something but it seems doubtful. I don't know German laws but I'd hope falsifying information is not taken lightly.

First off, caps are not "virtually unheard of". Secondly Comcasts cap is 250GB/month. Who would use that in a few days? The biggest bandwidth eater I can think of is Netflix and a user would have to watch 108 movies in the best quality t

Can you run the latest OS on an iPhone 1? Can you run the original OS on an iPhone 4? I can see how they're not as different as PS 1/2/3 but they're definitely not the same device. Steve Jobs would slap anyone who dared say that iPhone1

No, they don't need to justify the purpose of Google+.

I'm not sure what your point is. Google HAS changed the world , what more can you ask? In order for them to continue to change the world they need money (they are a business), and some of their products like Google+ and AdWords are more g

It's a lot easier to piggy back on the success of actual innovative startups. "hipmunk for car insurance", "heroku for mobile apps", "etherpad reborn"...

When the government (that your business operates) is requiring you to hand over data what do you do? Is it Google's fault or the US government? I certainly don't think complying with the law is "evil". If the law is bad, fix the law.

Think of all the jobs required to fight these patents in court.

I've never seen it used that way except from our marketing staff. Any technologist should know better.

Kind of like how the internet has become the "cloud", all things related to the browser are now "HTML 5".

How are faster browsers and javascript engines part of HTML5?

There are plenty of innovative and unpatented areas of Android. The problem is "A smartphone might involve as many as 250,000 (largely questionable) patent claims" - this is insane. Patents should protect prior art, not every single trivi

They're being painted as a victim because they are. Patents are BS and continue to hinder innovation. They may be anti-competitive in other areas (although I don't know specifics). Can you provide some sources?

I had no idea 20% was expected to be paid to the dev and I've downloaded several from the Amazon App Store. It sounds like this dev made an uneducated choice to be featured even after knowing they would receive zero %.

I've been trying to use Sublime for a while now but really disliked the dark skin (even with theme changed). I just installed: https://github.com/buymeasoda/soda-theme/ and am in love -- definitely going to be switching over.

Awful customer service and PR failure on Airbnb's part, they should be ashamed. Not only did they NOT do anything to help this poor woman but they lied about it for positive PR and asked her to remove/edit the blog? Wow, that's about as l

You sound a bit biased. There is love for both iOS and Android in and out of the "geek" community. My dad who is far from a geek has owned an iPhone and iPad. Now my mom owns them both and he owns a Droid X and Xoom.
