Why is this on HN? I'd bet that < 10% of the population were offended by that photo. If it were a picture of Fabio with his shirt off (gasp) there would be < 2% offended. Yes, there are men who say "check that ass out" and there

The real question is why is this guy so sensitive? There are sexist people in every industry of both sexes.

If you really think they don't care about market share and money or being the top dog, you're wrong and they've fooled you. That's their number one concern, they're a business.

Lets see if YC changes this title too...

So anything remotely related to YC companies that shed good light are immediately frontpaged but something potentially dangerous that is bad PR gets title changed?

No, it's bullshit. YC shouldn't censor the articles, especially one as potentially dangerous as this. AirBnB has everything to do with the title and blog and they deserve any bad PR they receive. Very disappointing.

Seems like excessive transfers. I achieved a "real time" counter by having requests return a start value and a rate of change per second. The GUI would then update every second with the estimated values. My AJAX requests would happen muc

I guess that's my point. My study is off of Reddit (and common sense) while their study which has unexpected results isn't being published.

I'm sorry but this "study" doesn't exist because it isn't true. The best purchasers and moviegoers may also be pirates, but overall the movie and music industry would be making more money if it weren't for rampant pirating. I read a thread

I figured Google would try to use their ad-powered business strategy to lower the profit margin to near-zero or negative rather than competing against netbooks. Didn't PS3 sell hardware for much lower than cost to manufacture? These things

I too struggle with the price of Chromebooks. I do love my CR48 but expected price to be around $200 considering the OS is very limited.

They should be "application specific", maybe even with options to choose which parts of Google Services it can access. I don't want my Digsby generated password to be able to access my email via IMAP. It's unlikely to be leaked in plain-t

I partially agree with the author, this does seem like a big deal. I was ecstatic with this feature because I felt like the odds of my email being compromised was near zero but not so much any more. I have 10+ application specific password

Intent is the obvious differentiator. Intentionally abusing a system with the intent of taking it down and causing damage should be illegal.

You're missing the small contractors with 20+ repos, any of which may need to be opened and edited at any given time. Why should they pay $100/month when they really only need 2-3 active repositories and consume a fraction of the filespace

It's not uncommon for small businesses and contractors to have 30+ repositories, each of which are very small. It doesn't mean they have more money than god, they're being screwed by the pricing model. We switched to a different host that

Many of you are missing the point. It's not as much about the actual cost but about the model of charging per repo rather than data usage (or both options). This model is not cost effective for small businesses and contractors who have ma

I'm not an Apple hater but I'm certainly a patent hater. What's your feeling of the patent heavily discussed earlier: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sec... It patents using regex on a mobile device to parse text

Once again I read the patent and it's safe to say that any mobile device (input/output) with a CPU ("action processor") that uses regex to parse text and automatically turn it into actionable links is infringing this patent.

All that lawyer jargon means is that it's running on a device with input, output, and "processing unit" (CPU) with a program that can scan text and automate the linking to different actions. While he may not infringe this patent exactly, i

I read the patent and it seems that using regex to automate links on a mobile device is exactly what they patented. Can you elaborate why this is not so? Patent: http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sec...

I'm sure they'll continue to tweak the new look for "power users" but they didn't actually "break" it if power users can switch to the normal theme. Breaking it would be forcing the update.

I tried a handful of random SWF files from my dropbox and none of them worked. Several were due to AS 3.0, which isn't supported but even simplest animation said "The #initclip pragma is not supported.".

Reminds me of the gaming industry where the "hardcore" PC gamers continue to get shafted by exclusive releases to consoles and gimmicky motion controls.
