I rather thought that Google advertised to the person using YouTube, and the video is just the vehicle. Thus, you'd expect ads targeted at you to appear on any video you watch, even extremist ones. This may be quite difficult for Googl

There's no mention of the bare fact that: * Cubicles are 'furniture' and therefore receive advantageous tax treatment (accelerated depreciation, increasing profits), * Walls, not so much.

Haha, I remember that. My maths teacher DM had a mate in the factory who eventually got me a speccy out the factory door, but it was a longgg wait. Spectrum was a fun machine. Basic was ok for very simple games. I never did learn z80 assem

I really wanted a ZX-81, and my dad ordered one not long after they came out. But typical for Sinclair, the delivery lead time was on the order of months! Not even weeks or days, and my dad gave up and brought home an assembled Acorn ATOM t

Try looking at the consultancy end of tech. Typically, if they like your face and grades, they'll put you though an internal bootcamp, or send you somewhere, at no cost to you. Starting salary should be maybe $70k+ and up for a new gra

The worst part of an iPAD is carrying it around. Give me a foldable iPad that still has screen in both halves, but that is usable in landscape, and I will buy. Appropriate haptics could make it work like a tiny laptop in portrait, but like

It comes from cheap 1080 panels being used for HDTVs. Example [1]. I bet Walmart sell a ton of these, though likely not to the HN commentariat. And yes it does suck, but nice 16:10 aspect panels are still around, just a bit pricey. [1] htt

Mine are gone now, but these Xircom / 3COM PCMCIA cards were totally awesome. If I remember, Linux used supplicant to wrap the Windows drivers, so assuming you had everything setup right, they worked pretty well on Linux.

Have to put in a quick mention that the Microsoft Sidewinder 3D Pro is probably the worst piece of hardware ever made. Or at least my copy was. Never worked right, and one of the few pieces of hardware I've ever taken out to the dumpst

Ok, I'll put in a word for the HP ZBook Studio. You can have i7 quad-core, dual 1 TB SSD, 32 GBytes RAM (maybe more), backlit keyboard, thin(ish) form factor, and a fantastic 3840 x 2160 screen. Graphics are NVidia M1000M which is desk
