"The evidence over the past 35 years has not shown that correct code is 'simple' in C." "Your firm belief is contradicted by 35 years' worth of memory safety track records of large-scale software written in C.&

I am not arguing that higher-level languages are worse and that everything should be coded in C. Each problem requires different tools for its solution. And to that end, high-level concepts should be done in a language-agnostic manner. Howe

I don't think I worded my original comment in the best way. However, I find that the people who make statements like "C makes it far more difficult to write safe and correct code" haven't touched the language in years if

Difficulty is relative. If you don't study modern C idioms your C code will be crap. Same goes for Rust. Honestly using higher-level languages is the same mentality as taking a pill to magically lose weight. It's quick, but detrim

With WebAssembly making its rounds it would be cool if Javascript libraries are able to be written in C/C++ or other lower-level languages then exposed via an API. That way a lot of algorithms can be shared with native code-bases too.

It's easy enough to disable the adds. Also check the Microsoft account and there are various preferences with toggle buttons associated with "targeted ads." To be honest, some people like having targeted ads if it's some

Just gonna throw this out there: what if instead of working on creating the myriad of "better languages" we focus on actual mastery of simpler languages like C. And with that mastery: what about writing some machine-learning softw

Honestly I swear by my Surface Pro 3. Maybe learn to hack some device drivers and get Ubuntu running (better) on a device like this. Some people already have it working: http://www.geek.com/microsoft/linux-users-rejoice

Consider that smart phones have only been around for a little more than a decade. It took several decades of development for general-purpose computers to become viable to the mainstream, so the smart-phone technology is just in its infancy.
