Well, this is true in Capitalism as we know it. But, truthfully there is a deeper relationship to the things we create and the people we share them with. What is the end goal of creating art or new scientific discoveries? If it's money

Hmm. Well put--it certainly trickles down. However, that has always been the case even with piracy aside: when have publishers not squeezed the profits from the artists of the world? Or what about Walmart running small companies out? Spotif

Not a lost art--but a dying one. Think of how many people using languages that don't care about this sort of detail. Great article though I read it a while back. I was thinking of sending network packets you can pack structs into a wir

Certainly true. However, the digital world is a changing landscape. Consider how technology replaces humans in the workplace and displaces jobs. No matter what, change causes collateral damage and the reality is this time it's hittin

I'd argue that copyright infringement is: making a derivative work of something and selling it for a profit; or stealing an idea outright and profiting from it.

Anyone know if this affects Windows phone 10? It also uses all of the mentioned software.

Although, dynamic languages force extra incentive to unit-test the shit out of the codebase. Compilers certainly catch a lot of syntax mistakes and whatnot, but it also relaxes the requirement to add extra code coverage. The onus is more on

So, at what point do you stop becoming upwardly mobile and plateau? Because it will happen eventually. At that point, shouldn't accounting be something worthwhile? Otherwise all your money will be gone before ya know it! So you might a

True--sometimes when translating from a mathematical context to programming causes some readability pains! Especially if it's something that takes advantage of multiprocessing to solve the problem.

It's really a balancing act. Gotta have the right amount of comments. In general I prefer code that is written such that comments are not necessary, but in the context here the "clever" tricks should always be commented. And

So long as the "cleverness" is well-documented it's not a problem. Authors should explain why it is written the way it is. Problem solved. I've seen some weird-ass calculations in code with no comments. If the author has

Instead of paying taxes people should be forced to do mandatory community service. That will help close the wealth-gap and force wealthy people to intermix with the working class.

They should not allow people to say the word "code" in public places. There is nothing remotely code-like about writing software that most of you people do.

I hate the word "coding" you shouldn't use it. Excel rules and procedures are not "codes" or anything remotely like them. They are high-level constructs. Codes are enigmas like SHA-256.
