I am seriously impressed with Microsoft. I haven't used windows in years but they are releasing tons of useful things. VSCode is great on Ubuntu and every version of OS X I have run it on. Plus tons of other cool things like bash on wi

Cockroaches are figuratively unkillable; resilient and survive in nuclear wastelands. I think the team was going for something like: you put your data in here and it will survive basically anything but a multi-continent nuclear war

It really puts the new-wave American feminism into perspective. Americans/Europeans/Nords are living in a great time for equality. It's not perfect but: > This is the norm. China, India, Africa, the Middle East, parts of A

I agree with parent that it's a bit crazy; but I wouldn't be as critical. to your point; presumably even if they dropped DOS support something between DOS and now likely relies on that. It's a fine line.

I was going to ask how a remote pckg could do that. Not knowing how rust works (or package managers apparently) I didn't understand how it could be widespread. Makes sense, damn; that's substantial.

I am curious as a total novice why chips and why now? As you said ARM is cheap. For price to performance I don't see why there aren't multi-motherboards coming out. Someone made a 10 raspberry pi MoBo which if it is cost effective

To be honest that's news to me I don't use tablets. I think potentially ios makes it seem less palatable to something like a MacBook air and I don't believe they are on par w/ a surface pro-- although you might be right

If this is a pure-play quick money motive; then yes. Make something you care enough about to do a good job; compete on value not price. Then have an exit strategy/timeline: e.g. x amount to get to y traction or pull the plug. If you

The tablet w/ keyboard is interesting to me. The touchscreen laptop form factor was pretty bad; bulky and really unlikely to be leveraged as a tablet or touchscreen. The newer surface pros seem to actually nail the form factor: small e

I take your point but 10 years maybe a bit hyperbolic. The replacement cycle of a phone is likely 1-2 years a tablet maybe 5ish unless it is mission critical. I wonder if tablets are declining in business & education; which are likely l

What about Waze, YouTube and double-click? Google core is search but their rev model is adtech; double click fits your definition. YouTube competed hard in video; think about search w/o the "video" tab. Waze improved maps. &g
