You also get a big performance boost when you use the cache-control headers properly. Because you'll be saving the browser having to connect to the server to check if the file changed, and if you have many js, css, and image file, then you'

Set your title as Chief Design Engineer on your incorporation documents. In practice, no one will probably bother to check, and even if they do, they'll go by what the title is on paper. The reality is, you'll be doing mostly programming wo

When I see someone with 700 Facebook friends or more, my first thought is that they're most probably friend collectors. They either add every profile they come across, or they accept every invite they get (usually from other friend collecto

This was a little disappointing. I don't see any mention of background jobs, which they've been promising for a while. And, second, the date to launch billing looks like it might not happen before the end of the year. But, overall, my expe

How do you count a work hour? I answered 40-50 because I count only the 'productive' hours in which I'm doing something specifically for my startup. If I include the hours I spend reading, learning new technologies, networking, and attendin

I read the book, and what I understand is that he started working 4 hours a week AFTER years of very hard work until he built a profitable business. The really hard part is getting to that point. The book is still a good read, though, and h

I used 99designs for the logo of my latest project and I'm very happy with it. I put up a content and set the prize to $150 (+$39 that 99designs charges) and I started getting logo submissions within hours. By the end of the 7 day contest p

DuckDuckGo is awesome. Voted up. I also like the idea of SocialMention, but it didn't work well for me. Most of the results I got were not relevant.

Another advantage to IFrames is that it makes porting your app to OpenSocial easier. The two platforms seem to be converging recently: Facebook enhancing their Javascript APIs, and OpenSocial building their REST APIs and working on an equiv

I worked from coffee shops as well for about a year right after I started my startup. It's definitely better than working from home; you get to be around people and you end up being friends with other regulars. I rarely had issues with wifi

Yes, SOAP is not always the right solution. It adds extra overhead, which is the price you pay for having the tools validate and map the message to objects automatically for you. It's your call weather that's worth it or not. In many applic

You're making the assumption that I'm advocating 80 hour weeks, and then continuing to argue against it. Maybe I wasn't clear. Expecting employees to work overtime is obviously not the right approach. Creating an environment that's so much
