Exactly so. It requires just one suitable black swan event to destabilize an entire continent. Extreme events are really badly understood by many popular writers as demonstrated by Harari's 2016 book "Homo Deus" which stated

I wouldn't complain if even one of the spin offs would be from the KOTOR universe. But I guess it's not canon anymore.

Exactly so. It's easy to argue against Trumpistas being a net negative to society on almost any level. It's much less easy to think about ways to negate them as a political force without hurting everyone else in the process, and i

No crisis should go to waste. It's interesting how tech people will endlessly argue about some minor details regarding privacy in some mediocre-usage phone app but huge precedents like these are swallowed without criticism because of p

Exactly so. It would've been the smartest to clip the head off once the most momentum would have been blown off. That could've choked the entire movement. The fact that I was heavily downvoted and flagged for stating the opinion s

Incredibly stupid to ban him at this point. The storming of the Capitol was a dangerous event, but could've been the apex event of the Trump supporters. The whole movement should've been let to slowly fizzle away - now they'v

Chris Krebs is a policy guy by background and I don't see why he is a particularly good choice for a massive post-exploit cleanup, except for PR purposes.

Silicon Valley absolutely has to be a place and people will return to face-to-face social contact the minute that is possible. It is impossible to build long-term meaningful relationships on a 100% remote basis.

Problem is that EU is not comparable in any manner to the US. For one, where do you suggest the Silicon Valley of EU is? London would've been a decent bet except that they just bailed. As someone else mentioned, capital is way harder t

Elon Musk carried a lot of the financial risk to get the company into the position it is in now. The engineers did not. Funny how risk is always completely neglected in these "entrepreneur bad, engineers good" narratives.
