Doordash uses Kotlin for backend as well. I suppose they want FE/BE to be in the same language. And when your main product is a native app Kotlin starts to make sense.

I probably should not have mentioned mercurial. I do not really know it anymore, but it is somewhat more UX focused than git. I think my original argument stands, especially considering the comments - too many ways to use Git, while most pe

Old thread, I know. But there are a few: * Transaction throughput. * Efficiency - allowing small scale players to participate in verification and block production. * Inter-chain communication - some networks are explicitly designed as conne

I pretty much only work in the context of teams. My own git skills matter quiet little - there are many other people of various skill levels who are working on the same codebase. Junior developers get very easily confused by git.

Honest question - does git have to be as complicated as it is for most usages? The number of times I got stuck fixing (mine and other people's) git issues is way more than seems necessary. I have not used a merge at a workplace for so

Well, I would totally disagree. I love safe and transparent but it is just not what gets the job done. I've had to transfer money to people around the world and people have asked to send them dollar-pegged tokens on networks like Tron

Yeah, to say that "Bitcoin" is the epitome of blockchain technology, an ever-innovating field, is either ignorant or disingenuous.

I work for a tech startup that is focused on cooperatives and so have been learning about the cooperatives a lot lately. Cooperative have and still are playing a great role in things like energy and farming. Much of the grid in the US has b

Before the blockchain hate gets too intense just wanted to remind that Bitcoin is the odd one out using a proof-of-work algorithm. Pretty much every other project uses a security technique that is light on power-consumption.

Well a lot of people who want homes are expecting to be getting short-term rental revenue that would cover their mortgage payments at least. If they fail to do that then they might not want the home. Also the numbers do not exactly support

I wonder why they did not just add the feature if it is so desired? Feels like the code required and UI changes would be minimal.

Actually I would say that that is exactly what blockchain does, except as a protocol and relying on a network rather than a newspaper. Actually I might use this to explain blockchain to people on a base level.

I cannot argue with bad token, premine - I have not researched but I believe it. "VC coins" in general have these issues it seems. Just trying to say that not every shitcoin is trying to get people to give them their biometrics, t

I think that's super reasonable and I have no record or memory of dosage, sadly. Although nowadays I approach such things from a very different angle: why do I think I need to medicate at all? Why am I, a relatively young and healthy p

You are probably correct, I honestly do not know. What I meant is that there is an association between melatonin and sleep and there is _some_ research on it as an effective medicine but the quantity of it (to my untrained eye) is limited.

Melatonin is very interesting because it is believed that all living things (bacteria, fungi, etc) have it [1]. Calling it a "sleep aid" is somewhat off because in humans and other animals it is compound heavily involved in modula

I was worried about the same actually. I have an old crappy website that I have not updated in years and I was wondering if it's acting as my business card, which wouldn't be good. My doxed online presence is minimal otherwise.
